This is my first time ever leaving a review over a restaurant, I have never felt so inclined to warn others. I have been here a total of three times and every time I go I am more disappointed. I went this morning on mother’s day to give their breakfast a chance only to leave horrified. My boyfriend and I both ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy, he asked for sausage gravy, I asked for no sausage in mine. I won’t even go into how horrible the service was, but I will say that both of our biscuits and gravy came out without sausage despite what our ticket said (sausage gravy costs more). Not a big deal so I politely informed the lady that we didn’t get one with sausage gravy. This is when the waitress PICKS UP OUR FORK AND STARTS DIGGING THROUGH OUR PLATE OF FOOD!! She then claims that the sausage is cut up to small to see?? So then I stated that both of our biscuits have the same gravy on them. Instead of taking away the biscuits she dug through and our fork she used to dig through it with she simply said “I’ll bring you a cup of sausage gravy”. This lady brought us a saucer of sausage gravy to pour over the biscuits she dug through.
I didn’t complain I just marked it as a lesson learned. Horrible service, waitresses that don’t know how to waitress, and low...
Read moreThis is a locally owned and operated place and I love it. If you're driving through Herrin, this is a great place for a little local atmosphere. It's old school, no doubt. It's a small dining room, only holds maybe 25 people. I love their breakfast. When my wife and I are craving a good breakfast, we'll either call in an order or head down there. They have a breakfast special that includes your choice of bacon or sausage, hash browns (this is my wife's favorite) cooked on the grill top to a golden brown, eggs however you want them (wife loves scrambled- I get 2 over medium), and toast or biscuits and gravy, all for under $10. I also love their omelets, and they'll make them to order. I've also order sausage egg and cheese sandwiches, which they offer on toast. I've never had anything there that wasn't good. And the lady who runs the place is what I would call "just good people." It may be one of the best kept secrets in Herrin. They're not gonna serve 100 customers in 20 minutes like McDonalds, but there is no comparison when evaluating the food. I highly...

The burgers are edible but nothing special - thin patties on a cheap flavourless bun. We were seated at the only table large enough for our family, which was next to a very large chest freezer that apparently contained most of the food the restaurant fixed. One of the chairs had a large tear right down the middle, but we were able to swap it out. I ordered the cucumber salad which was ok but too sweet. The fries were frozen crinkle fries. 2 of our party ordered breakfast: biscuits and gravy and sausage biscuits. Be aware that sausage biscuits come slathered in gravy unless you specify otherwise. Breakfast (served all day) appeared to be the best choice. Our waitress was sullen and served us grudgingly. The place was dirty - for example the doors to the bathrooms looked as if they never had been cleaned. At least the prices were cheap, but unless you can't even throw a frozen dinner in the microwave, I'd recommend...
