We do truly enjoy the food at BoomTown. We have always had good service at the location closest to us but we do travel to Hibbing frequently and so even though our previous experience with the service at this location was not the best we decided to try again. We were seated quickly as the dining room was not very busy at all. Our server was pleasant but seemed a bit distracted. We received the first part of our order but one of our drinks never arrived. We questioned our server who admitted that the drink had been forgotten and quickly brought it to the table. The rest of our order arrived and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was absolutely delicious and we likely ate more than we should have. As we were nearing the end of our meal a duplicate dish of appetizers was brought to our table by another server. We declined and said we could not eat any more. The server seemed confused and when they caught the attention of our original server from across the room it was indicated that the dish belonged to the table next to ours. After we finished our wonderful meal we waited for a bit for the check to arrive. When we received the check it seemed a bit higher (double) than I expected but I wasn’t looking closely at the prices so I first thought maybe I was just underestimating the cost. A closer look however showed that we had been charged for two complete orders (it appeared to be the order for the table next to ours as best I could tell). When the sever came back several minutes later we pointed this out and the response was “Oh that’s a simple fix” and that was it. No apology. Our check was corrected and dropped at the table only to have our server disappear again. We waited for several minutes with no sign of our server. My wife went to the hostess stand at the entrance to see if we were supposed to pay there while I stood by the table searching for our server. After what seemed like an eternity but was likely only a few minutes I was approached by someone who took charge in a way that gave the impression of a manager. An apology was given and we were cashed out quickly and efficiently. Love the food. Might still give the service another chance at some point but will probably choose to drive home and go to the location closest to home rather than stop here again in the immediate future. Still four out of five because overall the experience...
Read moreWe had the fish fry and prime rib tonight. $77 with 3 drinks and a kids chicken nugget. That's with a Vetrans discount. Anyway the batter on the fish was really chewy. I normally love fish fry and have 5 or 6 pieces of fish. This time no matter how much I tried to like it I barely picked 2 pieces apart. The prime rib came out to us looking like it had been sitting out for a while. It was cold as well! This place has really gone down hill! Hopefully they can find the staff to get their quality back to what it used to be. I did rate it a 2 because the waitress was courteous and tried to be as helpful as she could. She even tasted the aus jus and almost spit it out lol. It was that salty. The manager came around and asked how our food was and we were honest with him and he only offered to get us another piece of fish and new cup of aus jus. Waitress already did that. Didn't help when she did it. Sure it wouldn't have helped if he got more for us. Long story short the food was horrible. I don't mind paying the prices they have if the food was acceptable. But this was very unacceptable. My recommendation for this place is to try your food when you get it. If it's not good don't eat anymore and walk out. I also asked for a Vetrans discount being 100 percent disabled vet on Vetrans Day. They gave me 50% off of the fish I couldn't eat lol. I will be cooking at home more from now on. The quality of foods these days compared to the prices are not worth eating...
Read moreMe and my dad went to the Easter brunch and wow what a disappointment!! All tables had table cloths except for ours and 2 others. Got sat way in the corner at a rickety table we had to stick cardboard under so it didn't rock. when I asked the server why we didn't have table cloths at first she told me well I didn't do the seating chart and then said oh we ran out. I then I asked why no salt and peppers and said she wasn't responsible for putting them out. She then sent what I assume to be a manager over and she explained to us they should have planned better, mind you there are about 30 empty tables around us all nice with center pieces and table cloths and didn't even offer us one of those. The only good food was the omelet bar and prime rib very dry ham, too much garlic in potatoes, weird breakfast sausage and the salad what was that lol. Wouldn't have paid 15 bucks for endless mimosa bar if I would have known we would get 1 ounce flutes. The coffee was empty, mins you it was there last seating at 2 but if we weren't gonna get served the same should have been told that when making a reservation. The servers were already tearing tables down while we were still eating very tacky. I was a server and bartender for 20 years at a restaurant and every holiday we had a brunch never like this....
