Rice Paper doesn’t do anything exceptionally, but it does a number of things well. There is plenty of parking, and though the building seems small from the outside, plenty of seating as well. The interior is tastefully appointed with dark woods and hanging lights. The establishment was mostly empty when my wife and I visited, but we went during an off-hour (Sunday mid-afternoon). Lunchtime on a weekday may paint a different picture.

The menu here is appreciably extensive. Banh mi, bubble teas, pho, and vermicelli bowls share the stage with dishes less common to the area such as hu tieu or pressed noodles (banh hoi). With the ability to go large or small, vegetarian or carnivorous, Rice Paper has something for everyone.

For our first visit, my wife and I split a fresh roll and each took on a banh mi (grilled pork and the classic Vietnamese ham/pork/vegetable respectively). A Vietnamese coffee and a Thai tea rounded out our meal. The roll was lettuce-heavy but tasted fresh, and the accompanying peanut sauce delivered the expected flavor. The grilled pork banh mi was seasoned well, but both sandwiches were quite a departure from what we were used to. The bread was soft rather than crisp, and the mayo lacked tang. Perhaps Saigon Bakery has spoiled us. On a more positive note, the Thai tea seems like a future re-order, and the coffee was appreciably strong.

As mentioned above, Rice Paper’s offerings run the gamut from small bites to full meals, and the prices vary accordingly. Banh mi are a perfectly reasonable $5 each, and our app (sized for two people) was $7. Some of the rice and noodle dishes run into the teens, and nothing seemed like too much of a reach. Though servers were not always easy to understand, they were attentive and accommodating, and our food came out quickly.

Were Rice Paper situated in the heart of Greensboro, it would be subject to stiffer competition and would rate an occasional visit for some of its less ubiquitous menu items. But in the eastern High Point/Jamestown area, it serves a much bigger need and is a must for anyone in the vicinity with an appreciation for...

Food itself is pretty good. We (four adults) had beef stew, satey grilled chicken pho, saigon crepe, and an appetizer platter. All of them tasty pretty good, especially the beef stew which is very flavorful. It would have been nice if they had warned us about the pho being pretty spicy because we would not have been able to tell from its name (and one of us do not eat more than mild level of spiciness) as pho is typically not hot while satey is more sweet than hot.

In terms of service, it was alright. Like I mentioned above, they could have told us or asked us about spiciness. Also, we originally wanted to try curry but were told later it was not available without any explanations. The part that my wife and I really didn't like was that they count our 1-year-old as a person toward the 20% gratuity fee (for a party of 5 even though only four adults are eating). They didn't even serve water or provide utensils for the baby (we would've felt better if they did or at least told us in advance) so it was a bit frustrating that they just count them as a person. I just now noticed that other families who were here seemed to encounter the same issue as well.

The atmosphere and environment are okay for a short meal. Nothing particularly good or bad.

Honestly, I am confident we would go back pretty soon for another meal if they didn't charge that gratuity fee with a baby who didn't eat and didn't get served. Now, I am a little uncertain if and when we...

Really wanted to like this place, made the mistake of ordering right before closing and picking up right when they were about closed. Went home checked my food, noticed I had one order missing. No big deal. Called the very next day to make them aware, worker proceeded to interrogate me non stop about if I was sure I didn’t receive the order. And made me read my order multiple times and asked me if I was sure I didn’t get all my boxes. After going back and forth for sometime, worker told me they can give me a call back so they can call to verify with one of the staff members who worked on my order the day prior. Called me back to finally tell me the kitchen staff did forget to pack one of my orders. And asked if I could go pick it up, which was really inconvenient. I Asked if they could credit me the amount instead but was told the machine doesn’t give refunds. How do you have a business and don’t have a way to refund. Then asked if I was willing to take a gift card for the amount. I said yes, so it’ll be easier on the worker, they said they’ll text the gift card amount to my phone. Which I still never received. Make sure you double check your bag before leaving. Or better yet, take your...

I really wanted to love this place, so close and I looove Vietnamese food. The smell of a damp bowl of cigarettes by the front door as we entered was a clue. 2 stars for the presentation ( not the taste) of the spring rolls and that the server was kind. The chicken curry was very bland, thin, mostly potatoes and a little dark rubbery chicken. The fresh spring roll has a dark strong peanut sauce, shrimp and a canned or cooked mushroom, large tough lettuce inside. All apps are somewhat pricey for the taste and atmosphere. Food taste didn’t compare with other places around. BUT my biggest issue is that in Jan. Flu season they put 3 large unclean-able wicker baskets on the small table, community napkins, a basket of full of chop sticks and flatware and sticky topped condiments that every customer has dug into, or maybe even sneezed on, double-dipped and touched . Geez. Even at a buffet my fork doesn’t sit on someone else’s table for 30 min.

Absolutely phenomenal. The Thai iced tea is served in a handled mason jar and is the best I've ever had. While I discovered that I personally do not care for pho, my best friend loved it immediately! He's taking my leftover chicken pho home (on special at lunch for $8 with a drink and a side item!). Instead, I got chicken curry, a favorite of mine, and let me tell you -- I literally cried when I put that first bite in my mouth. It is so creamy and has just the right amount of spice and sweetness in it. It's a yellow coconut curry base with chicken and taro root (like potatoes only more intense in flavor and they crumble apart in the sauce). They serve it with Jasmine or brown rice, and it is comfort in a bowl. I couldn't eat even a third of it before I was satisfied! PLEASE GO HERE IF YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!

Husband and I were in High Point this evening and decided to try out this restaurant. We had the Duck Confit Sliders as appetizers and each had different bowls of Pho. Service was nice and we like the restaurant. They were playing modern pop music which clashed with the atmosphere. The price was a little high for the sliders. The steamed bun was big but had little filling inside. So the price for what we were given didn’t make sense. Both mine and my husband’s pho was very tasty though. I had the veggie and tofu and he had steak and brisket. Each had wonderful flavor and were very good.
