I happen to drive past this restaurant and decided to get dinner. I ordered from the menu it said "Seasoned Fish with Rice and Peas" no indication if it was fried or stewed. I figure the reviews were good how wrong could I go with fish. From the time I opened the box at home I was disappointed. The fish was fried with a thick crust of breading. It was thick it was very CRUNCHY it fell off the fish. I could not tell what kind of fish it was the fish itself was bland like it was frozen too long. So disappointing. I looked at the rice and knew it was not going to be good. The rice was very dark with a few beans. Please look at the pictures I did not.
This rice is definitely not what Jamaicans are use to. The good reviews may be from those who don't it Jamaican food much. If you stay on Nine Mile and drive about 4 miles down there is another Jamaican restaurant with traditional Jamaican flavors. I suggest you try this restaurant. As it being new it has potential. Definitely look at the pictures of the food. I did not. They do not look appetizing. I went by the...
Read moreOK, OK: this was a tremendous find over this past weekend. I was down the street visiting a friend of mine. (shout out to Heavenly Kuts) and my friend introduced me to this hidden gem in Henrico County East End.
Please don’t allow this outdoor atmosphere restaurant to throw you. The food and service is above board. I mean, they really hit it out of the park.
Here’s a brief story. Me and my friend visited B&L for lunch. I got the curry chicken and pasta. OMG, it was so good. My friend got their fish and gave me a piece to try. About three hours later, I went back to this restaurant and ordered two fish meals with extra pieces of fish. It is just that good!!!
we highly recommend it, and have already planned on another visit and it’s only been about five days. Now that’s just crazy.
for the amount of food that you get and the price, you will be...
Read moreYou know how some places hit or miss on certain days. I went on a miss day and it wasn't hitting on nothing. First of all what carribian food place doesn't sell coco bread. This one! I ordered a few of the menu items to give it a good chance and I was very disappointed. My cabbage had too many carrots and peppers and not enough cabbage. Also, the cabbage was cut too fine for my liking. I recommend they stop cooking all the chicken the same way and then add a little season to it after the cooking process. The rice needs seasoning and the stewed chicken was over cooked and dry. The jerk chicken wasn't jerkin and moving at all! The rasta pasta was not hittin on all sillendars either. Some times places need honesty to get better. ...
