Iâve been anxiously awaiting this restaurant to open for months. Food on instagram looked amazing.
I ordered a bunch of things for carry out during their soft opening. Some I really liked and will be re-ordering regularly, a few I probably wonât order again. Great vegetarian options. Nice, efficient service. Parking was limited. Good place for takeout or eating during off hours⌠seating is cramped and limited (maybe 5-6 small tables and a 4 person window bar).
Sabich pita = A+++. This was my favorite thing. Fried eggplant, hardboiled egg, tahini, tomato salsa, jalapeno pesto. It was filling, delicious, and a little spicy.
Roasted cauliflower pita = a close second. I ate this as a leftover from the night before and even re-warmed it was perfection. Cauliflower, tahini, chopped salad, Jalapeno pesto and scallions.
Israeli mango nectar drink (can) = so delish. Tastes just like a real, fresh mango. Not too sweet.
Beef areyes pitas = these were nothing special, but they were tasty. They come plain (just beef patties in a crispy pita shell). If you are looking for something straightforward, where you can control the spice level, this is a good option. 7.5/10
Side of falafel = ok. Not the best in my opinion, but good. 7/10
Hummus with beef = I love hummus, but personally, I didnât care for this hummus. I might give it another try since I ordered during the soft opening, and maybe recipes werenât perfected yet, or maybe itâs just not my taste. Also, hummus orders only come with one pita, so I suggest ordering extra because the hummus order is a pretty...

Though the 'tude of the cashier and the additional wait times may dampen spirits, the hot orange stools and white/black dÊcor never fail to perk me up. The hummus bowls have all been good (that jalapeùo pesto helps cut through the heavier elements; we've tried the Jerusalem Beef which is actually a mix of beef and lamb, and the Sabich), and though the eggplant (Sabich) seems a little flabby (from being cooked far earlier in the day?), I still order it again and again. I understand the cauliflower has been mushy for others, which is a shame; roasted...
Read moreI recently dined at Ami Jerusalem Street Food in Highwood and was blown away by the quality and flavor of their dishes. The chicken schnitzel in pita was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The pita was fresh, soft, and airy, adding to the overall deliciousness.
The shawarma in pita was equally impressive, with succulent, flavorful meat marinated in rich spices. Fresh vegetables and vibrant sauces complemented the shawarma beautifully, making each bite a burst of flavor. The attention to detail and freshness of the ingredients were evident in every aspect of the meal.
