The Ice House — Restaurant in Hillsborough Township

Can't wait to visit more often in the summer!

Took advantage of a warm March day to walk over to this family-owned and operated ice cream parlor tucked in a small Hillsborough shopping center and was glad I made the trip to mark it off my list. This little shop offers a unique fusion of flavors that will certainly satisfy any sweet tooth and offer both delicious ice creams and fun cones and containers for whatever your craving desires at a fairly reasonable price, staying under $10 for a small cup and waffle cone, each with about 2-3 scoops!

I tried the Midnight Caramel River flavor, one I would highly recommend as I've never come across anything like it before and it's a delightful blend of golden vanilla and dark chocolate, filled with swirls of gooey caramel that didn't overpower the creamy texture of the ice cream. The combination of flavors was unlike anything I had ever tried before and I was blown away by how good it tasted. On top of that, it was in a crunchy, purple, "decked out" waffle cone that complimented the frozen flavors perfectly.

The atmosphere inside is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff, greeting you as you walk in and some bench seating outside as well as around the sides of the shopping center with picnic tables if you wanted to stay for a bit. We saw a few young families and pets out when we stopped by. You can also cross the street and take a walk through the park as we did to enjoy the warm weather and have no regrets from snacking down all the delicious ice cream lol. The Ice House is Hillsborough's newest Ice Cream Parlor. Based on their initial popularity, they're definitely here to stay. The shop itself is a tad small, but they have a very nice setup. The wooden bar tables are lovely and the selection of ice cream flavors is impressive. The Ice House offers some of the best vegan ice cream I've experienced to date. The vanilla is great and the chocolate isn't overly rich like many others I've had. Their "fusions" allow for tons of combinations to be made. My personal favorite is the vegan chocolate ice cream fusion with oreo and peanut butter. The staff is very polite and there is seating out front and around the side of the building if you're looking to enjoy your ice cream outdoors. They also have a solid social media team. This is the BEST ICE CREAM SHOP BY A LONG SHOT! we’ve tried all different places, nothing even comes close to their customer service, cleanliness, the quality of icecream, always fresh toppings, they have a ton of options, and staff is always amazing! Listen you literally can’t beat this place! Anyone who complains about their cake wait time or rules is miserable and can’t understand that they are a busy icecream shop they make all of they’re custom cakes all they ask is you get your order in before Wednesday.
