We love their food and eat here often because the food is great. We called several times to place an order for pick up and no one answered. We drove there to see if they were open and they were so we went inside to place our order and wait. There was a young girl working the cash register who looked to be about 17. Definitely teenager though. I had to stand there and wait to place my order while this young girl was yelled at and berated in front of customers (very busy at the time) by who I’m assuming to be the manager or owner. Instead of pulling her to the side and making her aware of a mistake she made, he yelled at her in front of all the customers and caused a scene. She was very clearly on the verge of tears but held herself together. She was much more mature than the man who is in charge there. After she was humiliated in front of all the customers, she pulled herself from the verge of tears and very politely took my order. I really wanted to walk out but I wanted the chance to show her some kindness. We were uncomfortable and you could tell others were uncomfortable. If that’s the person running this place and that’s how he treats people, I don’t want to support a business like that. That poor girl should’ve walked out but I know most people can’t just do that. Whoever that man is there and regardless his position there, he did not need to humiliate that young lady that way over something so easily fixed! Even if it wasn’t the first time it’s happened, you should never humiliate someone and make your customers uncomfortable. Do better! Treat people with dignity or just do all the work yourself if it was that...
Read moreI ordered a fried burrito chimichanga. I specifically asked if there was sour cream and the lady said no! I said ok because I don’t eat it. I wanted double rice no beans on the inside or the outside. She never even mentioned it was guacamole. So I get home and my food tips over in the bag which was fine I can still eat it that part was my fault. However, it had sour cream now on the outside because they put a bed of lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream just open on top. I called to explain and she tells me well we agreed you want it on the outside. I said I’m allergic how can I agree on something I don’t want and had you mentioned guacamole I would have said something about that too. She then hangs up on me. I called and a nice lady answers the phone and was like it’s cool I’ll replace it and I believe you just bring the food. Remind you I used gas to come back which was a big no no! I’m very big on customer service and I wish I drove to Merrillville to my favorite spot. They always smile at me and I’m never judged for being black. I was so uncomfortable already walking in those doors I was ready to go. The nice lady that served me I can tell she’s very cultural and That’s the reason she was nice and chill. The other one may have some issues with black people. When I looked to my right the door server was mean mugging me and I had to role my eyes at him. I am not afraid of nobody because I treat people how I want to be treated no matter the race...
Read moreGood tacos/tortillas. The chile relleno tacos were fresh. *The only way to eat them. They cut them in half so you had to buy two. That was wierd. But rellenos are usually more expensive, so the price should be adjusted...$5 for even a relleno taco is on the pricey side.
The lomo was excellent portion.
The pastor was good, but I didn't get enough of that chile flavor (but too much is bad too) and no onion or pinapple.
Chips were a bit stale, so watch that. Salsa was good, but not great. Pay attention to the salsa. The green and red salsa didn't have that tinge of hot and the red had too much cilantro.
Service was okay, but it doesn't seem like they have a system down. I asked if she could bring limes for my jamaica and it was forgotten. We asked for a box and she asked us if we could take it up to the register with us. Then changed her mind because she realized that was ridiculous lol.
Most small places don't charge for little extras, because they don't have high overhead. Everything is getting expensive, $2.50 is not cheap per taco. It is standard. So sour cream, cheese, onion, cilantro, lime etc. Should be included in the price unless they want a side of sour cream etc. Just saying.
I would definitely go back. But I'm going to check out the competition. New here from Chicago.
Good...
