Was doing Uber eats with my husband and we were in the Holbrook area so I remembered seeing all of these crazy good videos on TikTok about this bomb Haitian pate kode restaurant and looked it up on gps and it said it closed at 9 so I was disappointed but something said call to find out and the woman on the phone told me 9:30. So we were 8 minutes away. I was super excited, we got there before 9. The guy at the front desk told us the Pattieās were stopped. My heart sank. I honestly didnāt want to order anything else but I felt awkward just walking out paske m pat vle fel wont.
Haitian restaurants just arenāt the same anymore to me no matter where they are located. So we decide to order my favorite goat with rice and my husband ordered the beef with rice. We wanted the djon djon rice but after 15 minutes the same guy told us there was no more. So it wasnāt that long of a wait there was a big party wrapping up their dinner. Vibe was nice, nice Haitian music playing.
We got home 40 minutes later bc we live in the Northshore. I cracked open my food and started eating with my baby girl. Immediately I noticed that all the hype didnāt really deliver. Now idk if itās because it was at night and it was about to close soon or if thatās really how it is but my husbandās rice at home is so much better and I still havenāt found a restaurant better than his food at home. So I take a bite of the Kabrit and it was definitely not it. I love goat, itās supposed to be sooooo tender and I found myself chewing a lot. Presentation was A-1, banann was seasoned and even though it was no longer crispy it was better than most banann Iāve tried and I make mine better at home so Iām always underwhelmed when going to restaurants and eat them. Pikliz, I mean what was that? onions with vinegar and salt. No no no! Please tell me you ran out and that was all you had. If so then okay you pass but if that is the pikliz you sell, please revamp your recipe! There are plenty of YouTubers who can show you how. Island vibe cooking, lamise o, cooking with freddie. All Haitian YouTube chefs that Iāve been following for years as an American girl who fell in love with the food and culture almost 20 years ago Iāve definitely eaten a lot of Haitian food over the years and have witnessed the decline of Haitian restaurants opening and having bomb food and then getting popular and slowing down just to mass produce and the quality goes out the window. I hope thatās not you pi bon an.
Overall, Iām glad I made the trip because weāre never in that area. However, I felt like all of the hype TikTok videos it really didnāt deliver with flavor for me. Reviews are made not to be rude but gives a chance for the owner/cook to reevaluate. I will be back for my experience with Pate kode because they look so delicious online and hoping that they will deliver when I finally...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited on October 26 after placing an order over an hour prior, only to find out they didnāt have the food I wanted. When I asked why I wasnāt informed when I placed my order, the server seemed unsure and asked another employee for clarification. This employee, who had blonde braids, approached me and asked what the issue was. I explained that I had ordered over an hour ago and was now being told the food was unavailable. Her response was dismissive; she repeatedly stated, āI didnāt take the order. You can order something else.ā I told her that I only wanted what I had originally ordered, but I would look at the menu again. As I did, she stood with her hands on her hips, staring at me. I asked her to stop with the attitude, and that if I decided to order something else, I would do so with the original person who helped me. Frustrated with her demeanor, I requested to speak with the manager. After reviewing the menu, I settled for just the macaroni from my original order, since I had already driven all the way there. After waiting over ten minutes, I finally received my macaroni and waited another five minutes to speak with the manager. I explained the situation to him, mentioning that I had placed my order over an hour ago and was informed it was unavailable. He initially claimed they had it, but then confirmed it had run out. I understood that, but asked why I wasnāt called, especially since they had my phone number. They insisted they had called and I didnāt answer, but I showed them my call log with no missed calls. The manager then suggested I leave my contact info to come back tomorrow, which I declined. I wanted to support a local Haitian restaurant in the South Shore area, but the lack of professionalism and accountability was disappointing. While waiting, I noticed other customers who had been waiting over an hour for their food. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this restaurant. I will be heading to Boston for Haitian food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time here. The food was great there was no issues with what I ordered. The service and atmosphere was terrible. It was 99 degrees today & the restaurants AC is not working. I was so uncomfortable dining in because it was too hot to enjoy my food. My waiter was the young man with blonde hair. He was terrible, He took his sweet time for everything, was always on the phone. I asked him for extra pikliz which took 20minutes. I asked for boxes as well because I couldnāt bare sit in the hot ass store anymore. The guy then said one at a time he will bring the pikliz first then some boxes. Which was annoying we had to wait for him twice . To bring two things⦠we were ready to leave then we had to wait an extra 20-30 just for him to bring the bill. You guys are in a white neighborhood, you should cater to your guests that do travel to eat there so they want to come back. I honestly probably wonāt be going back anytime soon itās too hot and the service is not it. You guys arenāt going to last if you donāt train these people . While we were there several customers were unhappy. We were all fanning ourselves with the menuš
Update since the owner responded: For one we were only told the AC was not working after we already sat down and ordered drinks. The only reason he even told us anything is because I pulled a handheld fan out my purse. The waiter said they were working on fixing it while we were there. When we received our bill the waiter was on the phone. Nobody said anything to us as we were leaving idk if you have me mistaken with someone else. Nor did any employee suggest take-out. Try again! Your response is the exact reason why you won't be getting a dime from me again. Very unprofessional. All the employees do is argue instead of taking feedback and using it...
