El Costeño Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Hollins

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I really enjoyed it. I came due to the great reviews. I normally just eat at Taquerias but for a restaurant I give it 5/5.

They had unique menu options that were different from what you typically see at other chains. The service was good and fast. The vibe was very chill.

The chips and salsa were good. There was a spicy salsa tomatillo that we requested. Chips were crispy and not stale.

I ordered the Aye Wey! It came with carne asada, shrimp, cebollita, charred Serrano pepper, esquite (corn), 2 chicken enchiladas, rice and beans, and tortillas.

The enchiladas were really good. Everything seemed fresh. None of my food was doused in cheese sauce. I even enjoyed the refried beans. The steak was a little heavy on the sodium but still good. The shrimps were great! Cooked perfectly and plump. We will definitely be back here and I recommend...

So good I ate one before getting a picture. Lol. Tacos Al Pastor we're delicious. Rice and beans were good. I normally don't eat the beans, but these were good. Very nice staff. We got ours to go. Nice place. Very clean. Will definitely be going back! Edit: Went back for a delicious breakfast burrito today. They are so nice! I got there right at 7am. They just started doing breakfast yesterday. I ordered a Chorizo breakfast burrito. It was really good. Their card reader was down, so the owner just let me go and asked that I come back another time to pay for it. How awesome! I didn't have cash on me, so this was a nice surprise for my morning! I really like this place! He let me know that they're waiting on their ABC license as well...so they'll have beer soon!! The pic of store hours is their standard hours. Wanted to take my wife somewhere different today. She randomly selected a place for me to review. Very good chicken enchiladas. Good tea. Top 3 french fries I've ever had. Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection. Wife said the queso blanco was the best she's had. This place was all around worth a lot more than what we paid and had a spotless clean restroom. Waitress didn't speak English very well and this was her 2nd day so I was eager to play duo lingo. It's fun working on my Espanol. Kudos to the owner for the way he speaks to her and training her gently. She was shy and nervous and spoke very low but she was on point with her service. She did a great job despite her limited communication ability. I will be visiting here many times. Go and ask for Juanita as your waitress. Make her smile. We as Americans...
