Mountain Top Grill — Restaurant in Hollister

Had lunch 3 weeks ago and the food was just as quality as the views! Had lunch there this past Saturday 6-27 and had a complete opposite experience. Apparently it is now a Famous Dave's franchise, not what I'd expect at a venue of this high caliber. Wait was extremely long given the lack of patrons there, so we were given a free appitizer and margaritas. The margaritas were so bitter and tasted like grapefruit. The sandwich buns were horrible but not as bad as the pulled pork in it. Wait staff was what I'd expect at a fast food establishment. Used to be viewed as our 19th hole but not going forward. I so hope consideration is given to go back to a restaurant that is the same caliber and as spectacular as the place it resides. Major, major disappointment. Will not go back until I've heard Famous Dave's is gone. Nothing against Famous Dave's but NOT at an extablishment like yours! I'd pay double/triple for a meal like you used to provide. We’ve gone to Big Cedar for many years and tried many of their on-property restaurants as they offer a good variety. As a change of pace on this trip, we decided to try someplace new and had heard that there was a nice restaurant up in the “new” Branson golf area. Finding this restaurant, was a bit of a challenge for us as once we entered the gate, there are several road options with no signage. Basically, go straight ahead like your heading for the Branson airport. Anyway, it’s worth the effort as the scenery scores a 5+, the restaurant is very nice, and the food was excellent. The building is very cool and we enjoyed the atmosphere even more than Top of the Rock, as the views are incredible overlooking multiple golf courses. Don’t leave before going downstairs and checking out the paintings and rest of the building including the restroom to get the full experience. Also, ask the golf cart driver to show you a close up view from the edge of the parking...

We popped in today after church for Sunday lunch and had such a wonderful experience! Our waiter, Robert, was attentive, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about my severe food allergy (Alpha Gal). I always share my allergy card when dining out, and Robert immediately listened and reassured me—explaining that a co-worker of his also has Alpha Gal, so he has been well trained in preventing cross-contamination. That gave me such peace of mind.

I ordered my usual “safe” option, while my husband and son ordered different dishes, and everything came out fresh, with generous portions, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming, but what stood out most was the exceptional service.
