It's not often that one finds a place that is celiac friendly that isn't in the city but I was pleasantly surprised seeing the sign for this spot while driving towards Holly.
Upon walking in, my partner and I were greeted with a warm smile from the person at the counter. Correctly sensing that it was our first time in there, they went over the menu with delight but without being overbearing. We decided on a couple of sandwiches (the CBR and the Reuben) but kept our expectations a bit low. In my experience, many gluten-free places have bread that is rather bland or grainy.
I was most surprised when I received my sandwich. The bread was toasted to the perfect level of doneness to elevate it away from the graininess I've come to expect but not so much that it felt like biting into a jagged brick.
The CBR had jackfruit and that is something I feel some places skimp on just expecting the sauce to carry the flavor - that was not the case here. It was full of flavor, tender, and quite filling.
The balance of leafy greens to the protein was also absolutely perfect. Enough to give it a little more crunch but not so much that it felt like I was eating a tree. As I proceeded to finish the sandwich, I noticed that the sauce stayed EXACTLY where it was meant to: in the sandwich. It wasn't runny, it didn't make the bread soggy, and it complimented the flavors that were there rather than trying to hog the spotlight.
I wish I could say as much about the Reuben but I dislike the taste of sourkraut. However, my partner expressed enjoyment over their sandwich and seemed to have similar feelings about theirs that I did about mine.
All in all, this was a fantastic experience. I certainly will be stopping by again the next time I'm...
Read moreI was looking for something new for lunch and stumbled upon this place and the reviews. I ordered a Burrito Bowl and a slice of a double chocolate dessert, which I split with a colleague. First of all, the bowl was $10.99, but the portion was quite generous. There's two meals worth of food in that price tag. The "meat" tasted like burrito meat and was very flavorful! If you didn't know it wasn't real meat, it may be passable. Secondly, the chocolate dessert was decadent, a word I didn't think I would ever equate with vegan food. My colleague thought it was fantastic, as well! I could serve this at a family gathering and it would pass some tough critics! I will definitely be incorporating this into my lunch routine for the days I opt to eat out. I'm excited to order a smoothie or juice next time! Also, the art featured inside was a nice distraction, though the wait was very short. For us non-vegans, this is still good food and a place...
Read moreDoesn’t get any more fresh than here. Literally everything made in the spot and fresh produce. Amazing! I am not vegan (not by any means) and I could eat here every day. I was very surprised at how delicious the tacos were. Never heard of using walnuts as a meat substitute but it was soooo good!!! I didn’t miss meat in any way and so much more filling even if your plate doesn’t look as full as a Mexican restaurant you will be satisfied much longer than traditional tacos. And as for the negative reviews on here about price I would say it isn’t exactly cheap but you get what you pay for. 100% recommendation to anyone that is ok with trying something new and that may possibly blow your mind. The Reuben made from jackfruit as a meat substitute was second to none. Wow!! Also great staff they take pride in what they do. Thanks so much for the great...
