Located at Barboursville winery this is overall a plesant dining experience. We were poured a glass of prosecco when seated and a served an amuse bouche after ordering which is a nice touch. Menu is Italian Style with Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Contorni and Dolce Primi is primarily pasta dishes and could serve as a main course. Each course has a recommended wine pairing There is also a full wine menu Dishes were plated beautifully. Pasta is made in house. Our mains were ok, not spectaular which for the hype and cost, I was hoping for. Service is very attentive though it felt impersonal. What we ate: *BURRATA, POMODORI E PROSCITTO- 20 Local Caiman & Gin Fiz Tomato Salad Burrata & Balsamic Reduction House Made Grissini Wrapped with Prosciutto *CAVATELLI DI RICOTTA CON PESTO DI BRoccoLI- Freshly Made Ricotta Cavatelli Broccoli, Pecorino Toscano & Almond-Pinenut-Chili Pesto *CAPPELLETTI CON CARNE E FUNGHI - Classic Hat-Shaped Small Ravioli Filled with Roasted Veal, Mortadella, Chicken, Crescenza Parmigiano Reggiano & Madison Mushrooms Royal Trumpets Thyme-Butter Sauce *PARMIGIANA DI VERDURE - Baked Egsplant, Local Oyster Mushrooms, Malabar Spinach, Vidalia Onions Wisconsin Grand Cru, Buffalo Ricotta, Rosemary, Basil & Piennolo-Pomodoro *BISTECCA DI MANZO ALLA GRIGLIA- Grilled Grass-Fed Beef Hanger Steak Sautéed Chanterelle Mushrooms, Swiss Chard al Sugo & Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes Rosemary-Cabernet Franc Reserve Reduction *Chocolate-Pecan Tart Madagascar Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream & Salted Caramel. Visited from DC during a weekend at Shenandoah and we were greeted by warm attentive service. I was apprehensive given some of the reviews but didn’t encounter any of the negative issues others have highlighted. The restaurant was flexible with our need to move our reservation a bit earlier when we called the day of and we were promptly seated and greeted with a complimentary glass of Prosecco and a pre-appetizer. The restaurant is a small intimate dining room with a semi formal vibe (some men in dinner jackets). We did the mixed wine flight and enjoyed each course of our dinner. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Literally no idea how this place has only 4.1 stars. Let me start by saying I’m Italian and visiting this place helped cure my nostalgia from when I’d spend my weekend in the mountains, eating at family owned, cozy and chic little restaurants. The menu is creative and upscale Italian. I heard Italian being spoken in the kitchen which is always a good sign. And I don’t know why there are reviews that say it’s not welcoming, when you’re welcomed with a complimentary glass of Prosecco 😂. If you’re near Monticello or in the area I highly recommend it. I will say… it IS pricey. We spent about $350 for two people.

Have been here (winery) several times before, but never the restaurant. Limited seating, and reservations are highly recommended...proper attire required.

We were promptly greeted, seated and provided menus, but no wine list. Wait support staff provided water and complimentary champagne immediately after seating. It took longer than I would have expected to actually get the wine list(👎)...

They provided bread, and there was oil on the table (two kinds), but no herbs. I asked for a side of balsamic glaze or vinegar while waiter was about, but only brought bottle for a small pour on the oil plate (👎)

We took advantage of the a la carte menu, ordering salad, wild boar appetizers, entrées and desserts w/ coffee...

The tomato salad was fair (mozzarella was near liquid), wild boar appetizer was fabulous, the beef entrées (with roasted potatoes and grilled broccoli) were excellent, but both beef servings were not "hot" when served (👎).

Limoncello was great but would be better without the chocolate drizzle (sort of killed the tangyness of the limon). Coffee was on par too...

All in all, it was good...but not great. In my opinion, the price is reflective of the location and high number of staff, although attempting to flag them down failed on two occasions. We may consider a repeat, but perhaps lunch...

My meal at Palladio was easily my most expensive meal in 2020. My meal at Palladio was also the best bargain I’ve enjoyed in 2020; as I was fully prepared to pay twice as much as the final bill’s tally. Mark, Jill and the support servers were absolutely fantastic in every way; knowledgeable, smooth, and personable without being intrusive. Katie the maitre’d was a delight as she helped walk us through COVID accommodations and safety-ensuring adaptations. And each course of my meal was a stunningly emotional experience, with lovely flavorful oysters, a tantalizing lobster ravioli with zests of burgundy truffle mushroom, a perfectly medium rare Wagyu tenderloin served with a sumptuous vegetable medley, and one of the better apple pie’s I’ve personally had topped with a scoop of decadent delicious cinnamon sorbet. And to top it all off, the wine pairing were extremely complementary, showing off the best of Barboursville’s vineyards. My only regret on the day was that the gift shop sold out of the Tuscan olive oil that so excited us during the bread service. All in all, a meal and an experience to remember. It was both a thrill and a treasure to escape the confines of one’s own home and kitchen and be inspired by what others are doing at all levels of service. Bravo. Keep up the outstanding work and...
