We were in town with friends with the intent of visiting multiple wineries and enjoying a beautiful fall Saturday. Our first stop was the Barn at 678 and it did not disappoint! We were one of the first visitors and had an opportunity to grab a flight, get some one on one attention from the staff, and walk the meticulous property. It is very apparent that the owners take great pride in the winery, the buildings and the character of the grounds. The landscaping was gorgeous and could be on the front page of any home and garden magazine.
We spent time enjoying the view from the deck and then moved over the shed roof area and enjoyed the swings and farm decor. After several enjoyable hours, we asked the owner what the easiest way was to get to a neighboring winery. It was in this conversation we learned they maintain a very close relationship with other vineyards in the area and enjoy each other’s wines. They gave us some tips and must-do’s to make the next stop enjoyable. With that, we parted ways; however our adventure at The Barn at 678 was not over…
After enjoying some tastings down the road, we took off on foot and headed back to The Barn at 678. Upon our return, we found an open fire pit, pulled up 4 chairs, and loaded up on drinks, cheeses, and crackers. The owner came out, lit the fire pit, and brought over more firewood. We sat there for the next several hours, enjoying the incredible weather, delicious wine, and lively atmosphere. While it was busy, it was not crowded and we weren’t stumbling over other guests.
We had an incredible day at The Barn at 678. It was our intent to visit multiple wineries, but could not see going anywhere else. The owners and staff were polite and accommodating to our needs and it is very evident that their passion is wine and hospitality and they nailed it! We can’t wait until our next trip to Charlottesville so we can...
Read moreMy wife and I visited the Barn at 678 several times now and I’ve always meant to write a review and kept forgetting. We went there last Sunday and as usual the experience was very, very nice. The folks that own the place are just such nice people, happy to chat with you like they’ve known you for years and it’s clear they have put their hearts into building this place. The wine is great, especially liked the Meritage, the charcuterie is always good and their beer selection is quite nice as well. One of the things we like the most about this place is the variety of seating choices they have. You can sit in the main tasting room area which is large and nicely done, or you can sit out in the “feed barn” area, or you can sit in the greenhouse. We actually tried all 3 on our recent visit and as the day went on the temp dropped a little and the greenhouse ended up being quite comfortable and enjoyable. Thanks as always to the owners and staff for a very welcoming environment and great...
Read moreThe Barn at 678 has been a family favorite of ours for years. The venue is a perfect multi-generational meeting place, with indoor and outdoor seating areas and an inspiring but relaxing vibe. Every one of our visits include sangria (peach, mango & blackberry) and a charcuterie box, which are both delicious and affordable. My parents love the live music and me and my children love the greenhouse, the fire pits and the hammocks.
We recently hosted a Celebration of Life at the Barn at 678 and the owners Ricky and Lorrie, and their staff, went above and beyond to make the event special. They listened as we shared our vision, we left the details to them, and they exceeded our expectations. Words can’t explain how grateful we are to Ricky and Lorrie and the Barn at 678 for creating a wonderful experience that will serve as a lifelong memory, in a time otherwise filled with sadness. We are forever customers of the...
