Stopped by this place after visiting the Everglades. Such a cool concept with the winery and brewery and all the cool outdoor space. Drinks were good, food was fine, but we had to wait an hour for it to arrive. I went up after about 30 minutes to check on the food and the bartender said it wasn’t up yet (he didn’t ask the kitchen, just saw that there was physically no food in his eyesight). We wait another 30 minutes giving them the benefit of the doubt that sometimes kitchens can be backed up, but when I went up a second time, a different bartender looked into and learned that our order never went through. He apologized. The food came out 5 min later and was just ok — some of the fish was tough and the tartar sauce had little flavor. Fries were good. Later when settling the bill, my friend tells the bartender checking us out (the same one who I asked the first time) if they could do anything because of how long the food took, a discount or something, or even just an apology. He says he doesn’t have that authority, only the manager, and that the manager wasn’t working then. He doesn’t apologize or even acknowledge the initial mistake of the order not going through and his error in not looking into it, but instead becomes combative and says it’s not his job to “micromanage the food truck.” This makes no sense because you have to order food through the bar and you get one check at the end, so it’s functionally acting as the kitchen of the brewery and he’s essentially saying he can’t check on them to make sure an order went through… very rude, and unhelpful. We were told it was a system error that the order never went through, so fix the system and lose...
Read moreThis is a great place to bring out-of-town guests and show them a different side of Homestead. There are many locals who haven't experienced this place yet either! First, it's huge. It's in the back parking lot of Schnebley Winery. You don't have to do the winery tour to get in. It can be hot in summer but in winter (ha ha) when the weather cools off a bit, it's wonderful. It's a casual, open air warehouse-style building with huge ceiling fan and a decent cross breeze. On one end is the bar with a row of tabs for craft beer and an outside grill where they cook the burgers and such. There are lots of couches, hightop tables, pool tables, corn hole, a few video games, and big screen TVs. It's a fun place to bring the whole family. The have live entertainment and/or a DJ on the weekends. The only downfall is the beers are expensive and so is the food. I'm talking $8 beers and $18 burgers. I think the cheapest burger was $13. They also have mead, which I like. I don't know if they have table service because each time I've been here, no one ever comes over. We go up to the bar and order our stuff and then wait for the little buzzer to go off to get our food. The flight of beers is nice and lets you find your favorite. They are also good about offering samples when they're not slammed. It's a beautiful ride through 'the country' to get here and it's close to Everglades National Park, so pop in before or after your adventure. Just check the hours, they're not what...
Read moreThis place was so much fun! The day we came (a Sunday afternoon) the DJ they had was beyond on point! Every song he spun was an abfab throwback and he even took requests...no joke, a group of us were dancing during several songs and there was even a conga line started at some point!
So if you want fun ambiance, look no further. As for the beer, it was hit or miss for me here. They had an entire lychee menu happening for summer (I think?), but none of those offerings were palatable for me. I did enjoy their Jack Daniel aged darker beers (even though it was hotter than the Sun).
I did the Stein tasting flight, which ended up being a better deal than you might initially think looking at the price of $23. It included 4 tasters and then a full stein of a beer of your choice, and you get to keep the very nice and HUGE stein! This is honestly, the best bang for your buck here! You can also bring the stein back for modestly priced refills.
The bar got packed pretty fast, but both of the bartenders I interacted with were super sweet, attentive as best they could be, and were awesome at making recs and giving samples.
There are also games to keep you entertained here with cornhole, ping pong, and pool. So, not a bad way to kill a Sunday afternoon just...
