This was our first visit to Suburban, which is about a 35 minute drive for us. Our party of five visited on a Friday evening around 6:45PM, so the place was very busy and crowded. Forunately, we lucked out and found a high-top table upstairs, so we didn't wait too long.
The interior of the building is nearly all concrete and metal, so it is very, very loud inside, particularly in the upper mezzanine. There was live music this evening, so between the music and general noise from the bar area downstairs, we found it difficult to hold a conversation at times.
It took awhile for a server to finally get to us, as it seemed they were a bit short-staffed, but service was great once we placed our order. Our server was attentive and offered recommendations for food and beer when asked.
I'm not a fan of IPAs, so it's often frustrating when the majority of beers are some variation of an IPA. Thankfully, Suburban has quite a few different types of beer. I tried (8) different beers and liked all but one. My favorite is the Conestoga Cream Ale.
All of the food had great flavor and the presentation was very impressive. We had nachos, fried cauliflower, and crab ragoon for appetizers, burger and quesadilla, and roasted pork. The truffle fries were amazing. My only minor complaint was that the burger was a little more done than requested. But, it was still very good.
Overall, the experience was positive and we'll definitely return. The facility itself isn't the high point, but the food and beer are definitely worth the visit. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreUnpretentious, friendly atmosphere with excellent beer selection, focus on burgers and fries, lots of activities. Brian the bartender was friendly and helped us pick through a 16 item selection of their craft-brewed beers. Their focus (in August) is on New England IPAs, which i am partial to. I tried the Day Tripper, Awesome Larry, This Ain't Saladworks Justin, and Here Comes Sunshine. We all enjoyed our beers. I vouch for the Sunshine which was light and fruity up front, with a crisp aftertaste. I found the Justin unique and interesting; a very strong floral scent yet still has a decent body to it. I also liked their oatmeal porter, a Fall selection. Their food focus is clearly on burgers and fries. The burger meat is local, and the fries hand-cut using vegetable oil. I got the Friend of the Devil fries, which were good and tasted fresh-cut. They add the Cajun seasoning to order so I asked for light seasoning. I wish the burgers were 8oz instead of 6. The atmosphere is casual, with a sizable main bar that invites conversation, but it can get a little loud. For sports fans, the screens are large and well placed. Two garage doors are often opened, inviting you to the patio. There is an upper bar too. They offer cornhole, music bingo, trivea, and live music for activities, and I hope to bring friends...
Read moreSuburban is a good small town brewery with a nice selection of drinks. The beer varieties we tried were really good and I like their relatively quiet location despite being right off the main roadway. The inside, air conditioned space is rather small with bar seating and a few high tops for parties of two. Larger parties will need to head outside to the patio full of standard four top tables. The patio looks great and smells wonderful as it is surrounded with potted herbs. When I ordered I was a little disappointed to be told they did not have a couple of my choices on tap despite being listed on the menu. Hopefully they just ran out otherwise they should update both their menus and their online/Untapped tap list.
While we were only here for drinks, the food options looked and sounded delicious. Also, their drinks straws are made of hay which is very cool and a great alternative to plastics or the paper ones that fall apart when...
