I'm a little upset right now. Just a little because these ladies aren't going to take me out of my character at all. It's New Year's Eve and I'm going to continue having a wonderful day but their behavior is disgusting and worth the review.
My son and I were looking for something to eat on the way back from Waimanalo. We haven't eaten here since Covid but we have given them a lot of business. Usually call in. Today I went in person. There were two old ladies cooking very slowly. They'd glance up but never said one word. No hello, aloha, I'll be right with you nothing. They continued to cook. I thought maybe they were just slammed for the day and someone would come take my order. I said hello. Nothing. I thought because they were old that they didn't hear me. Silly me, I stood there a little bit longer because I've been feeling a little under the weather and thought I just needed to speak louder. I asked hello can I order a little louder. One of the ladies said "you didn't order" I said no but I've been standing here for more than 10 minutes and you haven't said anything. She threw her hands up and said well I'm busy. These ladies were ignoring me. I said what; then say you're not taking any more orders don't just have me standing here and mumbling to each other hoping I leave. I don't use bad language but they didn't give a damn about my presence, me, an order, money nothing. Just old and rude. Please retire. Please do not give this place your business. I have never been treated this way and I'm appalled. I went right over to Kim's and got great service. I will never give these ladies another dime. What happened tonight was just shameful. When you run a business and you just don't give a damn. No...
Read moreI have to say this is my favorite Thai restaurant on Oahu. Besides being close to my house (always a bias) I love their curries. They are flavorful, actually spicy (if requested), and spicy in flavorful way, not just overpowering hotness. Besides their curries my daughter loves their popcorn chicken and my wife enjoys both their salads and sweat and sour chicken. While one downside is they don't have alcohol they are BYO so make sure you hit Safeway (or wherever) before heading over. To top all this off the decor is solid, their service is good (though depends which of the owners family you get), they have parking, and the prices are extremely affordable (enough you could eat them daily).
To address the roach comment, I have been going here for years and never seen a roach on the premises. That being said even if I had, so what. You are in Hawaii, you can't go ten feet in this state without seeing a roach somewhere. Roaches are not indicative of food quality and if roaches worry you, your choices are going to be extremely limited in Hawaii (no food trucks, street vendors, mom and pop shops, roadside...
Read moreMiss Carol offers the best affordable food in Hawaii Kai. I enjoyed my experience dining in her restaurant. Had sit down dinner in an authentically decorated dining room and was taken great care of.
I want to highlight the word AFFORDABLE as it is truly special that this restaurant is able to offer an abundance of flavorful food for a reasonable price, both sit down and take out.
You will not have to worry when bringing your family here for dinner.
We enjoyed the momassan curry, rice, chow fun, and spring rolls all for $40 total.
The food is prepared fresh every day beginning in the morning. Spring rolls made by hand daily. This is as authentic as it comes, home made, scratch food.
I have not had a Thai meal this delicious since I spent a month in Thailand a few years ago.
Supporting the local community and businesses is my top priority and I hope this review inspires the next reader to stop in and...
