Very cute, and I’d imagine it’s nice here in the summertime. I had a good time with my husband, and last night’s dessert was blandly okay. I was enamored with his company, honestly. I believe the hostess initially forgot to seat us until another couple walked in, so we waited on a church pew.
I just ate a slice of the chocolate cake I bought yesterday… and it’s boxed cake. I’m not kidding- it’s pillsbury chocolate frosting. The waiter convinced me to get it over the good-looking carrot cake, which now I’m thinking was perhaps also not truly homemade. This would be less offensive if the cake slices weren’t $8+. We got ice cream too- pistachio had a very mild flavor, with soggy nuts and artificial green coloring. My husband ended up spitting out peanut butter cups from his ice cream, as it was just way too overloaded with them. I’ve also never seen him with leftover ice cream. Supposedly, their ice cream is homemade.
It takes a real effort to get me disappointed in dessert. Granted, I didn’t identify their ruse until today, when I noticed the frosting could not melt. I would implore the owner to buy cakes from Costco and resell them, if they are unable to make homemade cake.
Are the $27 entrees microwaveable from Costco? We won’t be back to find out.
Edit, following the owners response: The chocolate cake had canned frosting, even if that offends the owner of this business. There is a flavor and mouthfeel we all know from our childhood. It’s rude of a restaurant to not only serve it for such a price, but also deny it. If you can make a good homemade cake, then absolutely sell that one. Maybe there needs to be some quality control? Did someone mess up last night? Like I said, carrot looked good. I’m sorry the ice cream we had was bad- should everyone else spend $20 to save your ego? I do wish my husband and I stayed home and made a cake together instead. (I’d highly recommend Swiss meringue buttercream!)
In the restaurant, they are begging customers to recommend them to Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Babe, someone has to be honest with you. This is a restaurant, not a friend’s casual hobby. Rarely do I leave a one star review because I don’t want to ruin a restaurant’s average. I gave you two.
Here’s one less star 😘 [Insert passive aggressive retort under the repulsive guise of being Christian] I wonder if you’re holier than thou when reporting your cash-only business to the IRS? Bringing God into this...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to take a long drive. We live in Philly and just hit the road... no specific destination in mind. After about an hour of driving, we realized we were hungry. I googled food places around the area we happened to be in and this spot popped up. It had decent reviews, so we decided to give it a try.
This was a FANTASTIC idea!! ALL of the staff was smiling, attentive, friendly and had great vibes. I'm so serious, everyone was awesome and made you feel welcomed.
We entered the restaurant and were told to grab any seat we wanted. I grabbed a table by the window. The place is really cute. It has a retro vibe and is bright and clean.
A waitress came to us immediately and served us. I got the shepherd's pie, (its one of my favorites and I haven't had it in over a decade. I was over the moon to see it on the menu!), and hubby got a fish sandwich with fries.
O.M.G. This was the BEST shepherd's pie I have ever had! Most shepherd's pie are made with ground beef, which I fully expected to see, but this had chunks of actual beef! 🤤🤤 And it was the MOST tender beef I have ever had in my life. It melted in my mouth!
Of course, I had to make hubby try it and he said that the beef was so tender, he doesn't believe it had ever been frozen and couldn't have been more than a day past slaughter. lol... It was absolutely delicious. I was so impressed! Mainly because I fully expected to see ground beef and, instead, got the softest, most tender beef chunks. Garlic bread was 10/10. Fantastic!!! ‼️‼️‼️
Hubby said his fish sandwich was also very fresh, only noting that the fish needed a tad more seasoning because it was a fresh water fish. He is from the Bahamas though and Bahamians tend to be fish connoisseurs... lol... they analyze every piece of seafood they eat. Ultimately, he was very happy with his dish and said he'd order it again, so it must've been great!
The two meals, a cup of coffee and a glass of lemonade came to about $45. Not too bad for today's economy.
Overall, this was a nice little treat on our day out while traversing with no destination.
Kudos to the staff and the...
Read more"I've never had a bad meal there." That was the quote I got when asking about " Its Nutts". I've visited this restaurant four times in less than a month! It's definitely a "recommend." The place definitely looks like a neighborhood restaurant. Walking in the door, I was met by the smell of fresh fried chicken. It was Tuesday at 5 pm, and we arrived before the dinner rush. The waitresses are quick and pleasant. The Tuesday Special is their famous "Trenton Tomato Pie" for $12. The Trenton Tomato Pie is a large tomato sauce and cheese pizza. They are made fresh and cooked to order for each guest. The crust is thin and crispy. I was very impressed by this simple and delicious pizza. On my next trip, I had the fried chicken dinner. Three pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and Cole slaw. The chicken was delicious but a 4 out of 5. If they made the chicken fresh instead of sitting under a great lamp, it would be better. It's still good chicken. I recommend it. I had to try the pies. I had DELICIOUS apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It was great! On my third trip, I had chicken enchiladas with beans and rice and a side of guacamole and chips. It was a big meal. I enjoyed every bite and took leftovers home. My dessert was chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Damn! They were 3 for 3! The latest trip was last week. I ordered the cheeseburger with horseradish sauce and fries. I ordered it medium rare. It was good but not as impressive as the previous meals. I wouldn't order that particular buger again. I definitely recommend trying the restaurant. I'll be there. I have many more meals from their large...
