FINALLY, I CAN WRITE A "GREAT" REVIEW. We moved into Newtown about 30 days ago and have been trying various restaurants. Most of them have been "okay" in that a few things are good, a few bad, and service so-so. Washington Crossing Inn....the 1st REAL restaurant we've been to since coming to town!!! Went for lunch today....
DECOR: Thankfully, one can sit INSIDE in addition to outdoors. We opted for inside and I'll just verify what others have written...a lovely, 'cozy' rich decor ripe with history.
SERVICE: The hostess was gracious. It was a pleasure to be "welcomed" into someone's dining room, vs getting a cold, indifferent greeting from a 20-something at a typical Newtown restaurant.
Our waitress was AWESOME. (I won't write her name here....as I'm saving her for myself but I wrote her up for their internal comment card). Honestly....we've tried 10-12 restaurants in Newtown/Crossing area, and today's waitress was the BEST. Very thorough, very comfortable, and she was totally cool with I and DW having a slow, leisurely lunch, slowly looking thru the menu and ordering at intervals. Quite different from the other restaurants in town that just like to hurry. Again, the waitress made it feel like I was at a good friend's dining room, not a restaurant.
FOOD Appetizers; Shrimp Cocktail was COLD, FRESH, MEATY...great quality. I wish they'd use "normal" cocktail sauce, but still it was yummy.
Lollipop Lamb Chops: It was like making love. I felt I was cheating on my Wife while eaiting these things. They were tender, seasoned, and served hot.
DW had Roasted Chicken and said she loved it.
I had the burger....and it was PERFECT. Medium-Rare, cheese melted perfectly, fresh veggie toppings, lovely brioche buns.
Desert; We had cheesecake, yummy.
Due to not being rushed, we ordered quite a bit of food. We usually don't spend $100 on lunch for 2....but we'll be here once a week as long as the service is this good.
Is it pricey? Slightly. But no more expensive than all the celebrated places in...
Read moreWe just held a memorial luncheon for my father-in-law at the Washington Crossing Inn and we felt the need to post a review based on the extraordinary experience we had. If you are looking to hold a small banquet/event in the area, I would absolutely recommend the WCI. We are not from the immediate area and booked the WCI based on previous online reviews and the convenience of the location following the services at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery. From the start of our experience, the banquet sales staff were very responsive to our inquiries and requests. On the day of event, the serving staff (led by Ari - who was phenomenal) had everything ready on schedule and quickly acted when more tables needed to be set up last minute (our fault as more people attended than anticipated). While banquet food justifiably often gets a bad rap, the food that was served was absolutely fantastic (for entrees we went with the chicken francaise and salmon). The staff very efficiently kept all food items refilled so there was never a delay in the line. Finally, the historic Inn itself is beautiful with several indoor and outdoor options for banquets/events. We were in the ballroom which easily fit our group of 80 with plenty of room for people to mingle between tables before and after the meal. I can't tell you how many compliments we received from attendees on the venue and the food. We are very grateful to the WCI for all of their help in providing a wonderful gathering for family and friends to remember my father-in-law. When we next find ourselves in Bucks County we will be sure to stop in for...
Read moreSorry people. .I was very disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I were staying at the Pineapple Hill Inn ( beautiful B& B)down the rd. the Inn recommend the Washington Inn.. first night stay we decided to make a resv. The Inn gave us a 15% off card, we also had tickets afterwards for a show..i was not impressed with this restaurant.. AT ALL!! I can't remember the last time I ate in a restaurant & they didn't put bread, or olives. Something on the table..it felt so cold, the table just felt empty..we found the menu to be very limited & honestly food was just ok.. nothing to brag about..i don't mind spending money and walk away & say that was delicious. But we didn't..our dinner was close to 100 no alcohol & 1 appetizer.. main courses were chicken & a halibut dishes.. when we realized the time we had to leave abruptly.. later that night I realized I had forgotten to give them out 15% off card from the PINAPPLE HILL INN.. WE went by the restaurant first thing next day..my husband explained & told management where we were staying & their response was " oh we love the PINEAPPLE HILL INN" THE OWNERS ARE GREAT!!! So great.... That they gave us some lame excuse for not honoring this 15% off card that came from this Inn that recommended customers to their restaurant, which I thought was in poor reciprocation..i would spend any amount of money to any fine dining restaurant.... WHEN IT'S WORTH IT! I saw reviews on this place..& was a bit confused. .I guess some people don't know what...
