Beth and her fearless team are an absolute treasure to the town. The modern barn atmosphere is both warm and inviting. Finally, a place where you can grab a gourmet sandwich at a reasonable price and sit down in a welcoming spacious atmosphere! Not only is the food delicious and healthy itâs also affordable. Each time I pop into the store, thereâs new seasonal selection of local or handmade products to choose from, a staff member with smile behind the counter, and an unbelievable wine and beer selection. Whatâs incredible as well is Beth and her staffâs knowledge of each product. Everything comes with a story about its origin and making. I most recently stopped in on our way to a day at the lake. We were able to grab freshly made cold sandwiches, Vegetable ceviche, pasta salad, potatoe salad, bags of ice for our coolers and lots of cold drinks. The handmade Whoopie pies are not to be missed. I was also able to pick up some frozen to go meals for dinner later that night ! Another hidden gem is the stunning hand painted mural on the side of the building if youâre looking for a photo ops! Iâm so excited to return to her store with more friends and family. Iâm even more excited to start taking some of her flower bouquet making classes and wine tasting classesâŚThe community is so lucky to have someone as passionate, knowable, and kind as Beth and her team who have created a beautiful space that nourishes both the...
Read moreIf youâre in the Hopkinton area be sure to stop at Barrel & Baskit on Main Street. This is both a country general store and community hotspot. There are breakfast and lunch sandwiches and tables where you can enjoy them. The store itself carries all the basics that you might need, eggs, milk and cheese from local farms and general staples. However instead of a lot of canned goods there are gourmet olives, locally made sourdough, artisan cheese and salami as well as side salads made daily. There is an extensive beer selection, again featuring many New England breweries, a good selection of wine and handmade gifts. Everything you need for a picnic or last minute dinner dilemma. Speaking of dinner, they also have meal kits and premade meals. The premade meals are made in house by the chef and owner and should not be confused with standard frozen grocery store meals. Once you stop in, youâll be sure...
Read moreIf youâre in the area, youâd be smart to visit this little cafe and corner store for a coffee, sandwich or handmade dessert. I recently ordered the roast turkey club, Rueben, macaroni salad, and a lemon bar. Itâs hard to choose a tastier bite. The clubâs sourdough had an amazing texture and flavor, and the meats and veggies were perfect complements to the bread. The rye was equally soft and flavorful, and the corned beef was divine. Macaroni salad is a tough side to keep fresh when made ahead, but this cup of salad was still tender out of the cooler. And the lemon bar? That recipe is a keeper. Tart, firm and sweetâit was a wonderful end to a terrific lunch. The bonus was that the cafe boasts a small library of cookbooks, which I flipped through while eating. What a relaxing way to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended for any visitor...
