Wonderful hospitality and service. When we arrived without a reservation they did all they could to serve us and was honest with what time frame we had. When I asked if she thought we would have enough time (in and out in 45mins) she assured me they would be speedy with us. (we were never rushed and happily left when finished right on time) They were welcoming and patient with our stir-crazy neurodiverse children and one of my child's medical needs. This was a higher scale resturant than we anticipated, and although we were the only table with children in the room we still felt welcome and accepted the entire time. Our waitress was an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Definitely an award worthy establishment.
AMAZING food. We had the kids chicken fingers-(6bucks), burger (10) and scallop dinner (28) and all 4 of us were savoring every bite. I read reviews about being expensive and the only thing I felt highly priced was the 11.00 drink. After tasting my meal I would happily pay 28.00 again.
I knocked off one star SOLELY due to there being a hair in my food and not being offered any compensation. (free beverages or a desert maybe?) We laughed about it though and the food was so amazing I didn't say anything until she came to take the plates away. She apologized and said she would have had my food remade but, it was in a small section I wasn't planning on eating, we were lucky enough to be given a table, and it was just a wonderful experience I didn't care to complain.
If we are ever in the area again we will most certainly be stopping at this high quality, family run...
Read moreNice place to stop on our way back from a hike at Kearsarge. We have a toddler but the downstairs tavern area was loud & had TVs, so we opted for the restaurant upstairs. Nicer atmosphere, though the lights were a bit too bright to call it charming. The menu was great, with ample choices of appetizers, sandwiches with fries, or surprisingly diverse entrees, AND kids menu, meeting the needs of all. The burgers/sandwiches were greatly prepared, though served with a stingy but tasty side of fries. The scallops entree was tasty. Interesting beer (local options) & wine selection. The full entrees were a bit pricey, but the rest of the menu was quite affordable. The desserts seem to change A LOT, as we ordered one only to find that they didn't have it anymore and the ones listed by the wait staff were not the ones we had seen listed downstairs - the one we did share was great though. They warned of a wait on the food orders, but we didn't end up experiencing it. The wait staff were kind and attentive.
FOR PARENTS OF WEE ONES: They have high chairs (with buckles). There is a fold-down changing table in the bathroom upstairs. They have plastic cups with lids for kids, but paper straws that might not hold up, so bring your wee one's water bottle/sippy cup. There is a kid's menu. The waitresses were kind enough to bring more tomatoes/cucumbers for our toddler who suddenly decided to reverse course on his recent refusal of cucumbers.
We arrived shortly after dark, so we sadly didn't get a view of the porch/balcony seating or lake, but heard it...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to try this spot for lunch. We walked in with our two young children and waited to be seated at the empty host stand. Three people pass us doing their best not to acknowledge us before a fourth finally comes down to greet us. She asks if we have a reservation, which we did not, and tells us we'll have to wait. After waiting about 10 minutes to see no more than one couple exit, and be walked in past about 5 empty clean tables, it began to feel like we waited simply because we didn't make a reservation. Also deck seating was not even offered. Another 5-6 minutes before our drink orders were taken, and when they were delivered she did not offer take our order. Came back maybe 10 minutes later (into the whole experience about 30 minutes now). Wait somewhere around another 40 minutes with not a word from the staff until we have to call over to the bar to have them check for our food that had clearly been sitting under the heat lamps. Food was actually decent, certainly would've been better if it was fresh. No acknowledgement or apology for the wait, but now that she could tell we were upset she deliberately avoided any further interaction. Maybe if you don't have kids, make a reservation, or are a Hopkinton local you'll have a different experience, but checking reviews I see we're not the only people to have had...
