I called Yong's bakery on Saturday before Christmas to find out if Mrs Yong was still taking orders. She asked what I wanted to order and when I told her Italian cream cake she said she would only make the round so I accepted that. She said I needed to pick it up the Tuesday before Christmas before 2 so I agreed to pick it up at noon of which I did. It looked fine! Christmas Day I asked my sister to slice it so that all the guess would get some. She did & said it was just crumbling. I didn't think much of that either but when over half the cake is still there uneaten then I knew something was wrong so I tasted and then I knew why. The cake was stale and hard, NOT at all fresh or moist. It was actually AWEFUL. On Thursday I decided to bring the left over to show Mrs Yong that she actually missed her mark on that cake. I've been buying cakes from Yong's bakery for over 10 years, I'm sure and this was the first time this happened. She became VERY defensive, VERY RUDE and tried to tell me what was in an Italian cream cake. I told her I knew the ingredients & more importantly I knew what it should taste like. She then just said well take your money back & thank you & just turned & walked away. I tried to let her know that I had not gone there to get my money back because I was a repeat customer & only wanted her to know she can't just sell old cakes, etc to customers and to apologize. She didn't apologize and just turned and walked away. I picked up the money off the counter, left the cake on her counter, made my final comment that I will NEVER buy anything else from her and I walked out. I WILL NEVER BUY from her because she is rude. There's too many bakeries with nicer and professional people. I'll just pay a little more to be treated better from people that appreciates their customers. I will not be referring anymore...
Read moreJust a note of warning - DO NOT order cakes through GrubHub as this bakery will not only not honor orders from there, they will pretend they never got an order in the first place (even though they attempted calling me which shows they did). I don't know why they even have it advertised on there if this was going to be the case.
The cake was intended for my boyfriend's birthday and I let him pick it up from the bakery, thinking they'd have it ready for me as I gave more than a day's notice for an 8" cake. I asked them for a few special requests (Happy Birthday, some small decoration) but did mention that it's okay if they change it up/cannot do so. Fast forward to the day of pickup, my boyfriend goes there with the order information and they say there is no cake ordered by me. The wife briefly asked "the grubhub order?" and the husband said "no.", like he was trying to hush her. This is my first and last time trying to order from this bakery, what a terrible experience. If they'd have said "we're sorry, but the cake is not ready for pickup today. Can you come back x day instead?" then we'd be more than happy to comply, even though it would be a late birthday cake. Unfortunately, they found it necessary to instead lie about never receiving an order AFTER we showed proof of purchase and didn't offer us anything in return. I'm sure their cakes are at least decent, but I'll never get to know!
Lesson learned, you will only have good experiences with this bakery if your order goes smoothly, otherwise they will lie...
Read moreI came across Yongâs Bakery through social media and was intrigued by their behind-the-scenes videos. Ms. Yong and her son seemed to work well together, with Ms. Yong focused on the business and her son adding humor and social media appeal. I decided to support their small business and ordered cake slices after seeing their wide variety of options.
The ordering process was a bit confusing. I was instructed to pay via Cash App and then provide my order details. After I submitted my payment and information, I didnât hear back. When I followed up, I was told the payment had failed due to âCashApp bugging,â which felt unprofessional. Adding to my concern, I saw a video where the son mentioned that payments should go directly to the bakeryâs phone number, making me unsure if I was communicating with the actual bakery or just the son.
After expressing my concerns on their Facebook page, I believe management stepped in to address the issue. Although the communication gap caused a delay, I ultimately received my cakes, which were delicious and worth the wait.
While the cakes were great, I hope the bakery can streamline their payment and communication process to avoid similar issues in the future. Iâll definitely consider ordering again, but Iâll likely stick to ordering directly through the bakery versus through text/CashApp type of transactions to ensure a...
