My fiancé and I have been together 6 years. Him and I used to come to JBs at least 2-3x a week. My fiancé used to work for a company that would come once a week with the company for breakfast. When he stopped working for that company we still came here all the time because the drive (35mins from our home) was always worth the quality. Place was always busy on normal busy nights. Service used to be impeccable and Allison the manager was always so welcoming and friendly. We supported them through covid, always kept coming back until recently. Cost of their food and QUALITY has gone down immensely. Today will be the last meal that we go there for. We will literally never come back. $50 for two Reuben’s that were absolutely disgusting. Two pickles given to us were literally rotten (not pictured because I told the server they were bad and she took them away from the table). Picture of the one Reuben in the comments. I didn’t eat mine as you can see in the picture. My fiancé ate half of his because he was starving. When the check was put on the table my eyes bugged out of my head. They charged $5 for an upgrade to a side salad instead of soup (that has never been charged before today for us) that came with the sandwich. Skimpy on the dressing for both the salad and the Reuben’s. We also had to ask for thousand island for the Reuben’s. $3 more for onion rings instead of fries. Literally $48 and change for essentially inedible food. We used to get Reuben’s from there all the time and they truly were the best you could get. Corned beef was dry as a bone, sauerkraut barely even pickled tasting, and the Swiss cheese was literally like tasteless plastic on top. The rye bread was also so soggy and gross. The server could tell something wasn’t right considering my plate was barely touched and if she had asked questions we would have shared our disappointment but we’re not good complainers (it’s the millennial in us). Just hands down… very disappointing. We paid our check with few words exchanged. Sorry JB’s but this is our 3rd time “trying one more time maybe it will be like it used to be” and we will never,...
Read moreWent for lunch today, this is the second time. First time was on Saturday night and the first experience was eye catching or maybe distracting that I was not bothered by the terrible service and nickel and dime ptatices. Today 5-19-17 was a different story. No booths available, we sat in an isle with table settings for two. Middle age waters who seemed overworked and limping asked us for our drink order. We ordered two cokes, when served to us they were small with lots of ice and hardly no coke or the watered down version. I ordered a calafornia burger $4.50 not deluxe, my wife ordered a blue cheese burger which the menue said it was $4.85 not deluxe. When the order finally arrived after 30 minutes the burgers were cold and dry the buns were wilted and could not hold the burgers. It was one sloppy mess. When the bill arrived it was $16 plus dollars. The small watered down cokes were $2.05 each and there was a $3.95 surcharge for the blue cheese burger. I did not complain to the owner that the menue is misleading, however the main reason I will never come back to this dinner is as follows: The staff. The waitresses wear white pants and the proximity to the booth and our table had a two foot clearance and when our witness was taking the order and serving the people at the booth all I saw was her rear end in my face, and to top it off there were brown stains on her rear. The 50's novelty wore off and you better clean up your act because the word will get out that the dinner is too small and the cooks can't accommodate the crowd plus the waitresses look haggard...
Read moreApproaching from the outside this diner has done everything right. There's an old gas pump hooked up to an antique car. The building itself is a perfect retro diner. But getting up to the door there was a whole sheet page explaining that they only allowed licensed Service Dogs inside. This caused me to wonder if they would have a problem with my giant Service Dog but I was meeting people there, so in I went. We needed a table for 8. There was a brief discussion amongst the hostess and the server. It turns out, the place is really set up only for parties of 4. Any more and they start moving tables. So, they cheerfully and quickly moved a freestanding table to a booth and confirmed with us that the placement was acceptable. The menu was large. As in, the menu played on the table was taller than half the table. So with people on both sides of the table, it was like dueling menus. But we were all family, in a good mood and having a great time. So we laughed off spilling over the water glass with the menu. Our server was wonderful! He was so helpful, cheerful and continued to offer further suggestions for us. The menu was so large because it was also extensive! From all day breakfast to sandwiches, cold and hot, to dinners and sides, shakes, malts and desserts. The food was good. I would say it was better because specials were ordered by a car's name. The atmosphere and the service were truly unique even amongst those that strive to be retro diners. The missing star is for not appearing too friendly from the outside and a little room for creative improvement...
