North Side Grille — Restaurant in Hudson

North Side Grille in Hudson, NH for a few delicious beers & a burger on a Tuesday. I had been here a couple times over the years when I lived a few miles away in Londonderry, but hadn't been back since I began this page a couple years ago. I remember coming here for lunch the first time & being surprised by the beer menu, it wasn't massive or anything, they just had some craft beer I hadn't expected since it's not really advertised as a beer bar. There is all your usual domestic suspects on draft & in bottle, but then there is BOURBON COUNTY BRAND STOUT (2018) from Goose Island & BIG LUSCIOUS (2020) from Founders Brewing Co. in bottles to get at the bar or your table for example. The drafts aren't crazy, like I said they were better than expected with FLUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON DIPA from Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co. & REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING DIPA from Stoneface Brewing Co. to name a couple. I grabbed a few different styles on this visit so let's get into it. 🍻🍻🔥☘

My first pint was the KIWI WHITE 2019 Witbier from Mighty Squirrel which I was not a fan of at all unfortunately, but I soldiered through it & downed the pint. My second pint was much better thankfully in the PERNICIOUS American IPA from Wicked Weed Brewing, a good above average IPA that got rid of that nasty kiwi flavor from my previous beer. My third beer was the BARREL RUNNER (2018) TIPA bottle from Founders Brewing Co. at a ridiculously delicious 11.1% & aged in rum barrels. It held up well for being almost eight years old, I was impressed & happy to check it off my list. 🍻🍻🔥☘☘🏆

This place is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner with the lunch menu kicking in at 10:45am. I of course had to check out a burger & got the Whiskey burger with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon & fried onions. I got fresh breaded onion rings for my side as well. It was good & definitely enough food to fill me up with the three beers I sucked down at noontime. I definitely went home & took a nap to recoup from all those calories, good stuff. My friend & I sat at the counter, but there is a dining room with plenty of tables. The bar & lounge is in the back past the counter when you enter so make sure you check that out. I wish I knew how to write this review to make the world understand how wonderful Northside Grille is. I have lived in Hudson for 5 years and based on where I live this place quickly became that restaurant we just end up at, which doesn’t seem like a compliment but it is. Do you know how good someplace is that you without thinking always want to go there? When it’s date night and you want some good food and a nice atmosphere but you also can’t go to far from home because what if the babysitter needs you. Or when you wake up Sunday morning and you turn to your significant other and you both know you want to go to your place and get breakfast. They have a diverse dinner menu that has seasonal dishes and staple dishes, but not an overwhelming selection. You can always find something on the menu that was exactly what you wanted but you didn’t know it until you saw it. They have a classic breakfast menu, eggs and bacon, delicious pancakes and usually a fun twist on breakfast scattered through out. Breakfast tacos are always three thumbs up. They even offer up the best appetizer menu you could hope for. One word, poutine. You can and will thank me later. I wish I could round all my favorite meals into a list but picking a steak tip dinner over the Mac and cheese or pitting the burgers against the salads seems mean. What next they will make us choose a favorite child! The ingredients are good, the vegetables are fresh and the meats are quality. The staff are always friendly even when you can tell they are having a tough shift. It offers two different dining experiences too, they have there family friendly dining room that has booths and tables. The atmosphere is quaint and welcoming. Then they have the bar side that have bar seating and bar height tables. The atmosphere on this side feels fresh and hip. They offer amazing seasonal drinks and a pretty good line up of tap beers. Overall Northside Grille is the go to family restaurant that has everything you didn’t know you wanted in a place all tucked away in our small town. And if you take away anything from this review let it be, treat yourself and get some apps, they are the best! Oh and they offer liver and onions, which I bet...

Went for lunch today and was more than disappointed. Waitress was wonderful. Restaurant was clean. Hostess perfect. $ 53.00 later blood pressure skyrocketed. Wife ordered pastrami sandwich and I ordered the teriyaki chicken with vegetables over rice. Pastrami came out looking great but the first bite told my wife that it was not freshly sliced. It was probably sliced in the morning and put into a hotel pan and portioned out per order. The edges were a different color and texture than the middle and hard. Not a good choice for lunch today. Next was my turn. Chicken teriyaki with vegetables over rice. Carrots,broccoli zucchini and onions. Onions were cooked ok but the vegetables I think were dunked in cold water and placed in frying pan to cook with the chicken. I believe all the ingredients were on the stove top for no longer than One minute then put over the rice. Now came the teriyaki. Cook must have measured out 3/4 of cup of teriyaki and poured over chicken,vegetables and rice. Finished product should be called chicken teriyaki soup. Please, for the next guests to come to your restaurant use the recipe that was posted in the kitchen to be followed by all chefs and kitchen staff.
