Silver Thorn Tavern — Restaurant in Hughesville

On March 9th my family and I came here. We were in the bottom section where they were watching live wrestling and it was chaotic. My family is spread apart and this is the first time my sisters, brother and I gotten together since my little sisters passing back in September. Having dinner meant a lot to us. We had our small children who get impatient. The customers around us who were favored and watching the wrestling match were clearly annoyed by our children. We waited a hour and a half for our food. An hour and a half and it wasn't even done! Our fries were hard in the middle and my brothers chicken wasn't even cooked. They had a hour and a half to get it right. The guy we assumed was the owner told us he'd take it off the bill and give him another. But after 2 hours we just wanted out of that place. My BF and I drive by this place several times a week on our way to work. The mural on the front entrance has always caught my eye but until last night, we had never been there. I now see what wasted opportunities those drive-bys were! Friday night 8pm and the place was packed but we got a booth right away! The menu has something for everyone but is not overly complicated and they have off-menu specials nightly. We ordered the 16oz Delmonico and Parmesan Crusted Haddock as our entrees and had soup/salad starters. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portion sizes were spot-on and the prices were very reasonable. The server was great and after we'd mentioned that it was our first time there, the owner/operator came out to greet us.
