It is highly unusual that I would even review a less than great experience. That said, I was really disappointed at this particular Bojangles franchise. I have eaten at many Bojangles franchises. The Cajun filet biscuit was good, as expected. No problem with that. I was surprised that this particular franchise does not sell green beans. The pinto beans were good, though, so not a problem. They also offer chicken rice bowls here, which are not presently available in Knoxville where we live. That is a nice option.
The most surprising thing in this particular visit was that the person putting chicken on plates did not know the difference between a chicken thigh and a chicken breast.
My husband ordered a 2 piece meal, thighs only. He ate one breast, thinking it was just a fluke. When he discovered that the second piece was also a breast, he told me. âThey gave me a breast instead of a thigh. He didnât want to bother anyone, so he was just not going to eat it.
I took his plate and requested the breast be replaced with a thigh and also explained that he had eaten one breast already.
The two people behind the counter said, âwell it looks like he tore it up already.â The person who had originally given him two breasts took the breast. She dug around in the bin of cooked chicken and grabbed a piece. Her coworker said âthatâs another breastâ with the first piece she chose, then they both looked at the second piece she held with the tongs and determined that it was a leg. She stated something about it being hard to find a thigh, then put a piece of chicken on the plate and handed it to me after searching for about 90 seconds.
I wanted to confirm that this piece was a thigh, because it was really difficult to determine. The person who had gotten this (hopeful) thigh said, âItâs a thigh. Thatâs what you said you wanted.â
I brought it back to my husband, and it was indeed about 1/2 a chicken thigh, which he ate.
I worked in food service for 4 years. I canât imagine that I would ever responded to a customerâs request to have the right menu item given to them in a way that blamed the customer for any mistake or even a misunderstanding on my part.
I am guessing they are just having a hard day. I cannot know what their struggles are, but I think that just by separating the white and dark meat, it would help them to give customers the right order.
I know a review is not generally to make recommendations on ways to help staff provide a pleasant experience for customers. However, I really feel for employees who are providing an unpleasant experience for customers like me. Maybe they wouldnât act in a defensive way, or might even apologize for a mistake on their part instead of making me feel like I never want to set foot in this establishment again.

So today I got a picnic (large) pinto beans and picnic dirty rice. Neither has tons of flavor but it's fast food and likely out of a can or bag so what can you expect. The tea is pretty good. Not Milo's but drinkable.
Here has very little as a review but I want HQ to see this. The air conditioning inside is atrocious. Like sweating from the minute you go inside and only 1 of the ceiling fans working. This needs fixed immediately. During my wait in line, I was behind a lady at the counter. She started fainting from heat exhaustion. She was older (likely 60s). Luckily have some medical knowledge and went into action. I caught her mid faint and yelled to get her a chair, which an employee in training quickly did. I got the lady sat down and your manager had a hand fan and immediately started fanning. I yelled for the kitchen to get me some ice and all they had was a paper bag. I made it work and put it on the back of the lady's neck. Your manager got her some water and after 20-30 minutes we got her back coherent and able to walk and got her to her car.
I'm not looking for any kudos or anything other than for you guys to do better. Good working air conditioning in the south should be mandatory. If a store reports it as broken, the franchisee or hq need to get it working. This could have been avoided. Also, supply your stores with plastic baggies or emergency ice packs in a med kit and if they run out, restock them. Putting ice in a paper bag is obviously not a great idea and doesn't last long. I know this is a one off and likely doesn't happen often but having basic necessities would have made this situation easier. Your store manager was amazing and immediately stopped what she was doing and helped me assist the lady while staying super professional and caring. Enough cannot be said about how amazing she is. She took the supporting role since I knew what to do and fanned the lady the entire time, and still greeted new customers walking in.
Fast food is a struggle for the employees as it is but having the basic necessities such as working air conditioning and a stocked med kit for emergencies would surely make their days a little better and would definitely make it better for...
Read moreI had an unusually bad experience tonight with my visit. In my opinion the staff was unprofessional and just didn't seem to care about the customers at all. One worker I would exclude from that statement as she was trying to apologize for all the issues and thanked me for my patience, however the rest of the staff couldn't be bothered to even take my order. I went to the drive through and there was one car in front of me. When it was my turn I was told to "wait a minute" so I did. Several minutes later I asked "are you ready for my order?" And was told "okay go ahead" I ordered a 4 piece supremes dinner with mac and cheese and a sweet tea and added a bo berry biscuit. After another several minutes I had to ask if he got my order and I was told to start over and repeat it. I got to the window and could see two employees arguing and a drink on the ground. One female employee could be heard telling the male employee to "be nice" and he responded "I don't care about them people and I am being nice". The female was struggling to keep up with the orders and the other two employees seemed to just walk away and leave her. She handed me my boxes and apologized for the wait and thanked me for being patient. I asked her if I could have the names of the employees and she stated it was her first day and didn't remember them. I thanked her and went on my way. When I got home after almost a 35 minute wait for food I realized I didn't have any of the correct food. I tried calling the restaurant as I live too far away to justify going back and couldn't get anyone to...
