Vujee Vegan — Restaurant in Huntsville

I was going to leave this review without comment but since the owner wants to act dense like she doesn’t understand that people can buy food and other people can eat it, let me expound on my review. NO, my name wasn’t on a transaction because I’d personally vowed to NEVER support this business. But recently a friend bought several items from the menu for us to try and since it wasn’t my money being spent lol, I tried it. The food tastes like it’s made by someone who hasn’t been vegan long. Mostly faux meat, very basic flavors, frozen fries that you can get anywhere, and the chili needs a lot of toppings to be something worth eating a bowl of. The burger had so much overwhelming smoke flavor that it was almost inedible. Maybe this food is good to people who haven’t been exposed to better vegan food, but it’s a pass for me. Now back to why I personally won’t be supporting this business. Does her logo look familiar? It’s because she lacks creativity and professionalism so she intentionally copied a successful black woman owned business in the exact same city. It has ALWAYS seemed rude and shady to me to do that to someone that looks like you, and I know for a fact many people in the city feel the same way. If you pay attention, she’s copied versions of their menu items too. Are you confused about her claims that she has a brick and mortar? We were too; because she’s located inside of a place called the foundation coffee house that serves as a multipurpose space that has its own food, events, parties, etc; she’s basically just a commissary tenant inside another business but claiming she’s more than she is. Perception can be reality and right now there’s nothing that I perceive from this business as worthy of my support. 10/10 I went to this place yesterday on a whim after being very disappointed that morning. My plan was to try something new, and after my initial plans fell through I remembered a friend telling me about this place. I was so hangry that I ate it in the parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised as I had no clue what to expect. I got the buffalo chicken salad. All of the ingredients were bright and fresh. It really hit the spot. My friend got the hot chicken nuggets. I tried one. They were yummy and tender. The hummingbird cake was moist and delicious and overwhelmingly sweet. The chili cheese fries impressed me most because I'm funny about chili, but I was feeling adventurous (also ordering while hangry🤣). The chili was perfectly seasoned and it was a meal in itself. The amount of food for the price was a great value especially for the quality. I consider myself a bit of a vegan food snob and this place has my stamp of approval. Also the staff there has a wonderful down to earth sense of humor. Their food is vujee but the people are sweet. What could be better? Thanks for saving me from my snack attack in the middle of homecoming!❤ If I had any criticism it would be that I wish they had big beautiful signage reflective of the vibrant graphics on their website. I cannot recommend Vujee Vegan enough! It is located inside The Foundation Coffee House (it’s like a little hidden secret – Huntsville’s own little rare gem). There’s a standing menu outside and then you’ll find menus at the ordering window. Two of us ordered the buffalo chick’n sandwich, one ordered the fried chick’n sandwich, one ordered the kids nugget meal, and two people in our party ordered the chili with cornbread. The buffalo chick’n tasted just like chicken but better because it was softer (I am a flexitarian who eats plant based, 98% of the time). It was packed with flavor. I was told the chili was excellent and if they didn’t know it was a vegan restaurant, then they wouldn’t have been able to tell it was vegan at all. The two women working the restaurant were top notch…super kind and made us feel very welcome and not like a burden because we got there right before closing time. I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. I HIGHLY recommend it. A+++. There’s a reason it’s got high reviews, y’all! We will most certainly be coming back when we need some comfort food. What a wonderful place for vegans/vegetarians to feel normal again as well.
