Always delicious ! Anne and Ryan always greet you with a smile and things just keep getting better from there. Be ready for some of the best Hickory smoked barbecue that you have ever tasted. You can eat in the front room at the Giant Community table, or you can go into the back for private tables. My favorite is ribs, but they also have brisket pork, turkey, ham, and some of the best hot links I've ever eaten. My spouse loves the grilled Texas toast, but I think the baked beans are to die for. Also don't forget the homemade coleslaw, pickled cucumbers potato salad and other add-ons that come with the meal. This is the only place that I've ever seen freight trains stop on their track so the engineers could get off and get barbecue. Don't worry about the line if you see one, it moves quickly. OH BOY! I really got lucky when I was looking to waste time and a local tipped me off to this place saying "better hurry before they run out of meat" You pull up to a little, yellow house and once inside, you can feel that local, family vibe. The people running the place chat with their regulars in a way that just feels right. There's vintage signs all over the walls. Super fun to look at while you smack down on their AMAZING juicy, tender smokey ribs. Don't forget the beans! Limited seating and very cozy. I can see myself returning with friends. The sweet tea tastes of local water which is also really nice. Be sure to get some of those sides! Their sweet pickles and cold macaroni is very very good. So are the cucumbers and potato salad. We walked in 2 minutes before lunch closed, sorry.. we had just drove 3 hours and didn't realize the time. The staff was amazing and friendly even though they were trying to close down for the day. They had a rack of ribs and turkey left so, we grabbed it all. They provided us with plenty of napkins, plates and utensils. We went to a nearby park and ate the food. We were so ready to be disappointed since this would be our 6th BBQ place since moving to Kansas and we just haven't been excited about any of the places. The food here was amazing!!! We live in Lawrence and my husband mentioned we should fly back here just for the BBQ. My husband is very hard to please as he is a chef and loves to smoke and BBQ everything.
