Our visit here was one of high anticipation. We arrived at 6:45 on a Friday night to an already-brimming restaurant. We actually had to park on the road due to the large crowd in attendance, which speaks to the reputation it has built over the years. We were told it would be approximately a 45-minute wait, so we proceeded to a comfortable lounge area where we enjoyed delicious BarnTown brews while we waited. About an hour-and-a-half later, we finally received the text informing us of our turn to be seated. It was 8:15 by that time. Knowing in advance what we wanted, we immediately placed our orders, but another hour went by before we got our food. There were only three people in our group and we all ordered the same thing. It was 9:15 when we finally got to chow down. The smash burgers lived up to the buzz and hype. We were pleased by the unctious flavors of the waygu beef patties, themselves, underneath the well-paired toppings that accompanied the patties. The fries left something to be desired, but were satisfactory. I prefer a more battered fry and more of them on my plate, especially at a $20 price point (excluding drinks). Overall, the service was excellent, the food and drinks were great, and the atmosphere was teeming with the excitement that one would expect at an upscale sports casual restaurant scene. The biggest disappointment was the the two-and-a-half-hour total wait time before getting our food. I understand that establishments experience the added challenge of accommodating the sudden increase in diners after receiving such accolades that Flight Bar & Grill received in 2023. My suggestion to Flight is to adjust your anticipated wait times so that your diners aren't left feeling frustrated and abandoned. While I mostly enjoyed my dining experience, I probably won't be back due to the...
Read moreVisted here for the first time 10/2 for a late lunch.
First let's start out with the good: My wrap was fantastic! My 14 year old said the wings were good and my extremely picky 3 year old loved the fries. Atmosphere and concept is very cool - you scan qr code and order from your phone. Entire place seemed very clean and the bathrooms are were nice.
Cons: Ordering from your phone means that you're passing around one phone so it all ends up on one bill- unless everyone can order from their own phones and they know to combine it? I wouldn't know because they didn't say... but being that this us a fairly new concept in this area, might be nice for more instructions.
Also, they were completely out of diet coke, and had no other sugar free options available. I agree with other negative/neutral reviews that the service could use some work- but overall the server was friendly and did come back- albeit not as often as most places.
We ordered a chocolate milk for the toddler & waited forever with an angry 3 year old and finally had to ask for them to bring it out. We also had to ask them to remove the diet coke that we never received because they were out of it.
My husband said there was only chicken in about 1/3 of his wrap, but he did say it had good flavor.
I'd consider trying it again after they work out some of the kinks, but only if they promise to keep diet coke in...
Read moreMy partner is culinary trained and I like food so we like to check out restaurants a lot. This one caught our eye with Iowa's best burger and we tried it today. I read reviews before coming and will agree parking isn't the best but they can't really do much about that. I also read that the service was bad and I disagree. First, the servers looked like they were trying to hide how tired they were and as an ex customer service worker, I noticed. They were busy and barely stopped moving. We did have to wait a little for the check but it wasn't crazy and our server was nice. We also got our food crazy fast but it was fresh tasting. The atmosphere was also very inviting and great outdoor views. But anyone reading this cares really about the food. Is it Iowa's best? No idea. I haven't tried them all. Was it good? Heck yes. The Foundation burger was that perfect comfort burger but it wasn't make you sick greasy. The fries were crispy but as a salt lover, I'd rather more salt. That's just me though. We also got cheese curds and best cheese curds I've ever had and the root bear was also top 15 in my book. (We love trying root beer). However, the show stopper to me were the pickles. I'd buy so many jars if I could. I actually let my partner finish my burger just so I could attack the pickles as he gave me his too. We will be back with friends some time. My only complaint is I...
