Bernie's Place Skyline — Restaurant in Hytop

I was on a cave tour/rd trip thru Jackson Co......and hunger hit me hard, but I still had 19 miles on county roads to my next stop. Bernie's Place was a pleasant surprise to find! Zipped in, ordered, sat and chilled out in the nice dining room. The pizza was perfect. I hate a rushed pizza when the dough doesn't get properly cooked. The crust was perfectly crispy on the bottom, which makes a nice textural platform for all the perfectly and generously placed toppings that went all the way to the crust edge (I got the veggie, hold green peppers), and there was a nice amount of sauce, so that when a bit squeezed out from a bite, it was scooped up with the crust bone! Such a good pizza at such a great price! I find I end up wasting a fair amount of other pizzas, but not here. I blew through 4 slices at the table, got the rest to go, ate a 5th slice after my last hike, and reheated the remaining for bfast/lunch the next 2 days. really, this place puts chains to shame, and I will drag friends with me next time with the promise of a great food stop! Tucked away in Skyline AL, this was a fantastic little joint to eat. My buddy and I went on a hike at The Walls of Jerico, and when we were done, we were starving! We stopped and ordered a pizza (The Works) to share. We also order an Apple desert pizza. We demolished it and wanted more... our better judgment kept us from doing that, but I would recommend visiting any time you ate in the area. Great food. Great service. All around...

Stopped at Bernie’s for lunch after hiking at Walls of Jericho and we’re happy that we did! The staff was very kind and sweet. The food was so good and everything was clean and cozy. We got the steak and cheese and pizza supreme sub and they were both delicious. Bernie’s will be our go-to after exploring the area and we’ll recommend to friends in the future!...
