Menu says "enchiladas" $6.99 but in accuracy it should say "enchilada" $6.99. Of course since the menu stated the plural I was confused as to why I only received one. The waitress didn't explain anything and allowed me to continue to be under the impression I was supposed to get more than one. The truth didn't come out until I received my bill which I was charged $20.97 for 3 enchiladas (no sides came with the 6.99 enchilada either). Needless to say this realization completely ruined my appetite and the anxiety of the situation left me feeling sick instead. I told the waitress had this been explained to me I wouldn't have ordered more and I no longer wanted what I had ordered. She insisted I take the food with me since it would just go to waste anyway so I obliged but instead of taking the 2 off the bill as she said she would, the manager would only take 15% off the bill ($6) . Instead of further disputing the charge (I had just driven from Florida so I didn't have the energy to stop her from f** me in the a** over my first sit down dinner in town), I confronted her about the misuse of the plural form of enchilada and how when you typically order enchiladas from a restaurant you receive 2-3. Her explanation for this is that their enchiladas are larger than a typical Mexican restaurant so that's why the "enchiladas" on the menu is just an enchilada. So they are just lying on so many different levels because that enchilada was definitely not noticeably larger than enchiladas elsewhere. Her response to the misleading use of the word enchiladas was "I will let them know", not stating who she would inform and very clearly irritated about me being upset by the lack of clarification/explanation from the waitress and the fact that the menu used "enchiladas" for what was just an enchilada. In conclusion, if you're wanting to over pay for food that barely passes as Mexican food and tastes like the cheapest frozen food you could buy at the grocery store then this place is perfect but if you are actually looking for a place where the mexican food tastes authentic (I never expected that from this place) and prepared by professionals who know what they are doing, along with a staff that is knowledgeable and helpful; keep looking because you won't find it at Carl's...
Read moreAs for a food critic I think not, as someone who grew up in South Central Texas, born a Hispanic American, and has worked in food for 20+ years in about every position possible on the line and off, I’d say I have some insight to what real Mexican cuisine should be. If you want to call yourself that by all means do so, however, the proof is in the comments. I’m not the only person to make these claims and I won’t be the last. Keep going on the defense. Maybe it was a bad day for the cook, maybe your food just really is spectacularly depressing. Most of all maybe you need to grow up and listen to what the people around you are saying. Maybe there wasn’t any fillers in your guac, there certainly wasn’t any meat in the fajitas. Ask your server she asked if we wanted to go boxes. I assure all 300+ pounds of me would have certainly never have needed a to go box. Put the snarky comments down and fix your food, if not you won’t be able to post bs childish moments back to people. My sentiments go out to the cow that had to die to put 2.5 ounce of subpar cooked meat on my peppers and onions. Here’s a hint have your cook look in to the Maillard effect, easy way to add some flavor without having to spend money on ingredients may come in handy either now which I’d suggest or later when you’re depending on your alcohol sales to pay the bills.
This isn’t in the realm of Mexican food, it can't be. Hands down the worst food I have ever eaten, under the category of food as a whole. My daughter who has started a vegan lifestyle should have ordered the fajitas as there wasn’t any beef in it, just onion and bell peppers, and honestly that was still cooked badly. In all seriousness I question the cook date of what meat was on the plate. Alternatively the burrito was subpar at best again with hardly any meat in it. The guacamole is tomatillo heavy; it adds a certain filler flavor that can be bought at Kroger for about the same price without the questionable freshness. Next time I want to risk it on a Mexican dinner night I’d sooner go to Taco Bell where I know what I’m signing up for. No wonder why this place is a hide away; it should...
Read moreThis is not a Mexican Restaurant, The food is dry and undercooked. While I was here I had to experience the staff fighting loud for everyone to here; like “We’ve talked about this before” and the poor girl was just trying to do her job, So unprofessional! The owner likes to comment on more reviews about this with insults, What a great impression if you’re looking at reviews before coming here. It’s not worth it at all! I got the burrito and got Tortilla (BURNT ALL OVER) with dry, left out for days shredded chicken, They buried it with lettuce, a poorly mayonnaise tasting sauce, tomatoes (rotten), and more to try masking the taste that DIDN’T work.
The only reason the wait and service wasn’t bad is because they took 5 minutes to make the food, and no wait to go to a seat because nobody eats here anymore in this TANKED space, according to old comments this place used to be good. I can tell it’s not anymore!
Edit: The atmosphere is only 2 star because of the chairs, the table is shorter than the seats, tons of flies, tvs hanging on the ceiling close to falling off, bad sports channels, bugs almost everywhere!
Oh yeah, the chips have almost no flavor, no spices, no seasoning. It’s just a chip, nothing more to it at all, down to the grain it’s still the same. that they also charge for? (They give it to you without asking BTW); However I can tell they really needed that extra 1.50 by the unprofessional staff and replies to every review being kind just for giving them a low rating that...
