Absolutely DO NOT recommend this place!! Saturday night 7/22/23, myself and a group of friends arrived by boat at about 7:30 pm. Upon arrival we used the restrooms as we had just gotten off a long boat ride, and then we took a table outside on the patio. Of our group of 6, one man did not have a shirt on and when he tried to go inside to use the restroom he was told he could not come in without a shirt. As he didn't want to go all the way back to the boat, another of our group lent him his shirt so he could go inside. When he returned to the group outside the man working who had told him he must wear a shirt came out to our table and very rudely asked what we wanted. The group asked if we could order food and we were told yes if we did it right away as they would be closing soon. We ordered food and drinks and he took our orders, collected menus and went back inside. After waiting a very long time one of our group who had recently been in a horrible accident and who we had CARRIED up from the boat, needed to use the restroom and so her boyfriend picked her up and carried her inside to use the restroom and to check on our food order. When entering the bar, the man who had taken our order yelled at them to get out, that if we were going to be immature we needed to leave immediately. We explained that the girl was recovering from a broken hip and pelvic fracture and couldn't walk and he told us to leave anyway. We asked about the food we had ordered and he stated that they didn't serve outside (even though thats where he had dropped our menus AND taken our order), and that he hadn't put our food order in and that we all just needed to leave. Not one of us were rude, out of line or causing any type of a problem at all and the complete rudeness, disrespect and complete discrimination a handicap person received was absolutely unbelievable and we would not recommend this business...
Read moreWe stopped in today and had the worst experience. We were met with “We have three people working. We can’t accommodate more than a table of 6”. We had six adults and five children ages 8 and under. We should have said we were a group of five and another group of six! We were ushered outside, but still received service for drinks. We watched many other groups (anywhere from 2-5 people) come into the establishment. We were told something along the lines “we can’t watch your children. They can’t run outside” and “people camp up the road, your kids can’t run.” First of all, our kids are OUR responsibility and were behaving like normal, well behaved kids, Second, it was 4:30 in the afternoon…why can’t our kids run outside?
I understand short staffing and Covid and all but from the moment we walked in, it was clear we were not welcome. A more appropriate response would have been “we are short staffed. If you can be patient with us, we would love to have your business.” And of course we would have been gracious and understanding. We had read great reviews of the food and were looking forward to trying a few appetizers, and supporting a local establishment. Unfortunately, we will never be back. We got our kids ice cream at the grocery store down the street and ordered a few drinks. They were served to us in to go cups. We were clearly not wanted at this establishment. Shame...
Read moreThe Captn’s Table in Garfield Bay is an absolute gem! Whether it’s a hot summer day or a snowy afternoon, this place gives you all the bayside vibes you could ask for. The food hits the spot, the views are unbeatable, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming.
I come up from Texas to visit my parents and this place is a non negotiable stop!
But what truly makes this place special is Mary - she’s hands down the coolest! You walk in a stranger and leave feeling like a regular.
Can’t recommend it enough. Love this place!!!!! Also the jukebox/CD player is 11/10 - great music and they have...
