This place is OOZING with potential but just slightly misses the mark. When we saw it was nearly empty on a Saturday night we were a little hesitant but wanted to give it a chance.
There's no host and no "Seat Yourself" sign so there's a chance you'll stand there awkwardly waiting for someone to acknowledge you. When we took the hint and sat down, no one came over to greet us or bring a menu. After awkwardly waiting again, we noticed the menu on the wall. When I went over to the counter I was finally acknowledged and given a paper menu.
While trying to order, we were told that they couldn't do a half pepperoni half cheese on the 12" only the 16", a silly policy if someone is trying to do half and half with a single topping.
Garlic knots we're somehow burnt on the outside and doughy on the inside. Dipping sauce was watery. Wings were decent, but on the small side for $10/half dozen. Spicy BBQ sauce was generic but tasty.
Pizzas were alright but greasy. The crust had a nice cook but could use a little flavor kick (rather bland dough).
No one came to check the status of our drinks, your given paper plates to eat off, no silverware, no napkin dispensers. The building is absolutely beautiful and it's a bit of a letdown that the food quality and service don't match the esthetic.
My advice for this owner: have your servers actually serve. It would go so far! Your customers will feel more valued and your staff will get better tips leading to less turnover (Help Wanted sign up is another red flag). With legitimate service, I recommend upgrading to real dining ware, including silverware and drink cups. You're charging too much and have too nice of a place to be going with disposable dining ware. By having customers pay upfront you're horribly limiting add-on sales like desserts or even your lollipops for sale at the register.
Make sure the ingredients are fresh and high quality only, make your own dough, up the service game and you'll...
Read moreAn ok place, full of people on Friday night. It provided a good source of some positive energy. They were doing Kareoke. It was definately for the whole family, as children were present, although they were not allowed at the bar. The only criticism that I can share, was the demeanor, attitude and politeness, or lack thereof, of the 20 ish year old blonde bartender. I've said it before, to put people so lacking in social skills in a prominent position where they will be directly interacting with your customers, is a mistake, although in this case, I don't think that it was because she didn't have social skills, she just used them in a dismissive and impolite way, which is why I left early, I might have eaten if I hadn't left, but as I didn't, I can't give a review on their food. People like that would be better off in the back, washing dishes. The dark haired lady bartender seemed friendly and exuberant. Friendly service makes or breaks your experience in practically any business that deals...
Read moreThe one thing Burley has been missing is someplace to go for Italian food. We went last night for the grand opening and although it was a packed house they handled it like pros. The outdoor area with river view is beautiful and every single person working was quick, friendly and not thrown off or stressed by the huge crowd of people. All things considered the food came out quick. We opted for the portside pizza and some Buffalo cauliflower vs one of the amazing looking ITALIAN menu items (again this is so exciting to me) only because it was so busy we didn't want to overwhelm the kitchen and the were both delicious! Crust tasted homemade and while I never would've thought to put honey on a pizza damn it was good! My husband and I do a lot of eating out and we've already decided this is our new favorite it the area. Can't wait to try everything...
