A GEM! Nestled in a little red storage building sharing a corner lot with the much larger Red Barn Produce on the highway at the edge of Fruitland is FRENCH PASTRY. How did we luck out? No idea but the Owner learned about French Pastry while serving in the French Foreign Legion and we out in the rural border towns have the delightful privilege of sublime éclairs in 3 flavors, flaky turnovers, crepes-both sweet and savory, coffee sourced directly from a coffee farm and so much more. The seasonal key lime pie is the real deal-- pale yellow and perfect not that artificial green imposter. He's always creating something incredible. And these servings are generous. The éclairs are the best I've ever had. I probably shouldn't even bring them up, they already go fast. Word has spread amongst the locals. You can't just saunter in after lunch and expect that impeccable choux pastry with heavenly pastry cream waiting for you. Certainly not the salted caramel. Those go fast. Read moreThe vegetables/fruit barn was amazing and the reason for the three stars. If it were only them I would give 10, however we thought we’d grab something from the bistro type place there. The man that was there with his wife was so rude. From the moment I arrived. I asked about something and he told me to just look and the menu. I did and ordered. I also bought some pastries. He said he was going to start cooking. Some nice people came in and ordered and I visited with them for a bit. I looked and it had been 30 min. I asked if it was ready and he got angry and told me that there were ordered ahead of mine and that he was still working on it. Anyway he immediately brought my order out and informed me it was someone else’s and that giving me someone else’s food was wrong but he would do it. The ladies that I’d been talking to made faces like “what the heck” as I left. Why I ask, do people need to be this way. He was angry from the start. Argued with his wife while I was waiting too. I write so the owners or this guy remember that a smile and kindness is what makes a business successful. You can have good food but if you're so angry no one...

No one is going to make me say anything if I do not want to let alone refuse service I was polite when I went in so I informed him he would not have sale from me and I left. If owners allow this type of behavior from there employees I will...
