Don't get me wrong, the food is decent enough. If you're old and don't like seasoning, this place is perfectly fine and reasonably priced. Veggies (I had the green beans and the corn) were bland. Canned and boiled in unsalted water is my assessment. The potato salad was actually pretty good. The fried chicken wasn't terrible... A little dry, but probably because it was towards the last hour of the lunch rush. But again, pretty bland. The catfish was standard-issue cafeteria-style catfish. Nothing terribly special, but not bad. Service was great, friendly folks, and lots of seating even though they were pretty busy. To be fair, I'm comparing the food to what I've had in Athens (Food for the Soul) and Watkinsville (Rachel's,). Great food whether you’re eating in or picking up a to go order. We’ve ate breakfast and lunch here and have never been disappointed. The only reason I can think of that you may be disappointed is waiting in line for your food, but this is because it’s such a great place to eat that there is usually a line! It’s not because the staff is not working hard. I lived next door to Granny Fitzpatrick (mother of the owner), and she was as nice a neighbor as you could ever want. We had never been able to dine here, but decided Saturday morning at 9:30a would be a great time. Unfortunately we waited over an hour and left before our breakfast was ever ready. Manager must have taken the day off. Why else would you allow your kitchen staff to be more worried about getting the lunch buffet prepared and fully stocked before an entire restaurant full of people have been served breakfast at 9:30-10:30am?
