Probably the most consistently "Good Bar Food" of any bar in the Chain-O-Lakes area.
Make no mistake, Choppers is a bar, not a fancy restaurant. I've eaten just about everything on the menu from Burgers to BLT's to Breakfast and everything is always consistently good. The quality of their ingredients is higher than what you'd expect from a bar and everything is made from scratch, even the soups and pizza! Quite frankly, I've never had a meal that I was not happy with at Choppers.
BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN, PERIOD ! ! ! On Saturdays, Sundays or on major Holidays, Choppers has the best breakfast around and breakfast time is definitely kid & family friendly. The Eggs, Omelets, Biscuits & Gravy, French Toast, Country Fried Steak or Chicken are all tasty and always consistent. People seem to come from all around the area and the crowd is fun and friendly. Bloodies, Screwdrivers and Mimosas!
SERVICE - The bartenders and staff are also consistent and friendly. They usually try to open up and get to know everyone who walks in, making customers feel welcome. By the second or third time you stop in, even if you're not a regular, you'll probably feel like one and they'll likely remember your favorite drink. Food order time is also consistently prompt, food orders are consistently accurate and food quality is consistent, even when they're busy.
PRICES - Food is reasonable (darn near cheap). Drinks are also reasonable.
I am a local, but not a native to this area. This bar attracts both locals and travelers to the Chain-O-Lakes area during the summer boating season, as well as the winter snowmobiling & ice fishing season. At times, Choppers can be full of neighborhood locals or a mix bag of people in town for the weekend. It's usually a fun, friendly and salt of the earth crowd.
What I like best about Choppers is their consistency, not just in their food, but in the way they promote food & drink specials, as well as events ranging from Bands to Karaoke and even to an annual Chili Cook Off. You can darn near set your clock to Choppers consistency of promotional events, as well as daily food & drink specials...Bottom line, you always know what to expect and...
Read moreWent there last night and the service absolutely horrendous. Guy bartender said he would be right with us when we arrived. 20 mins later still haven't been asked about drinks. Older female bartender came and gave us drinks but we asked for a menu which she completely disregarded. She was more concerned with a group of teens who was hitting on her. Lucky her she ended up with one of the kids phone numbers where she felt the need to broadcast throughout the entire bar. Unprofessional to say the least. Then the 3rd female bartender looks directly at us, walk past us to talk to her friends and regulars instead of servicing other customers. She eventually gave us menus and look our food order. She delivers the food and my husband as for hot sauce by name Franks Redhot. The bartender with bluish green hair looked confused and gave him Mexican hot sauce instead. I then asked again for Franks Redhot and she grabbed another bottle of the Mexian hot sauce. I figure she is unable to read at this point. I might as well have just went over thw bar and grabbed it myself. But after about 10 mins she was able to located the big bottle that reds FRANKS REDHOT. The chili cheese fries were the only thing that was edible. The chicken strips were disgusting. The appetizers platter was over cooked. The fried mushroom caps were watery. The jalapeño poppers were burnt on the outside but cold in the middle. How you accomplish that is amazing. We will not be returning. All the good staff they originally had are gone. Very sad our local date night bar has gone...
Read moreWe frequently eat here, breakfast is always perfect. This was the 2nd time I ordered a Chicken sandwich, both times were disappointing. The menu listed lettuce, tomato and mayo and cheese. I elected to get onion rings which was an upcharge, that is fine but for the unlisted peice of an additional 4.00 I got the bottom of the bag. my order arrived just like the last sandwich there was only 3 scraps of lettuce, I asked for the lettuce and she took my plate back to the kitchen, while I waited a good 7 minutes I thought they were frying fresh onion rings to complete the bottom of the bag scraps. Not the case. There also was no mayonnaise on the sandwich. I did not ask for it because I did not know how long THAT would take..... I did however get charged the .50 for honey mustard. So all in all I got a sandwich with onoin ring upcharge of 4.00. My meal cost 18.50 👎. When we were finished we waited at least 10 minutes for the bartender to ask if we needed anything else.... how about the check Please. Being a professional cook I would NEVER send out a side as disgraceful as the cook did. The picture has the additional lettuce I requested. The point of the picture is to note the Onion Rings. I will continue to order breakfast only,...
