Fanella's Pizza & Pub — Restaurant in Illinois

I have ordered there before and we liked the pizza, HOWEVER I will never go back there again. My daughters wanted cheese pizza, so I googled Fanellas and clicked on "view menu" to check the cost, we were going to just order it and pick it up, but I saw that they had an in house special (Thursdays only) for a cheese pizza for half price! I thought great we can just go in and eat there. When I got there I said we wanted the cheese pizza special - and I was told by the greeter that it was moved to Monday's - I said no I just checked your website on the menu it says tonight - she said yeah but we changed that last week, I said no its there - she just looked at me.... So I asked - I can't get the special? she said no, I asked to speak to the owner, he came out and basically challenged me on the fact that it was still on the website for Thursdays - I said I just saw it 5 minutes ago - he asked where on yahoo or some phone listing - I said no from the menu on your website. He didn't believe me and said he wouldn't give me the special tonight. I said ok and turned to leave but half way out to the car I went back in to ask for his email address so I could send him the link to where I saw his special - and another person went into the back to get it and came out to tell me that the owner found the menu display on his website and just deactivated it. So there was no need to give me his email address. No apology - no nothing... I don't remember having been treated like that by any restaurant anywhere ever! For some reason he was convinced I was lying to him and treated me like I was trying to pull a slick maneuver on him. Even after he figured out he was wrong and I was correct he made no effort at all to apologize. If you would like to be treated with respect...

Ordered 2 XL pizzas Sunday night . Sent my daughter to pick them up. Imagine my surprise when she gave me the receipt for over 56.00 dollars. I thought it was a mistake so I inquired, NOPE XL pizza the works 26.95 XL sausage mushroom 27.70. WOW ! I have Never paid that much for a pizza,not to mention it wasn't very good . Close to my house so I thought I would try it Never again I'll travel a little farther next time and get something much better and much cheaper Stay Clear of this Place people ! My son Spoke to the manager about the price and he said he will refund my money as a customer relations jester , we will see if he does. Waited over a week for a refund and nothing My son went over and talked to the owner and he gave him nothing but a hard time, until he found out my son was a head chef for a popular restaurant down town, then he gave him my money back and offered a couple of free pizzas that my son declined and told him they weren't that good in the first place Buyer beware is all...

I grew up in round lake for 14 years, so we knew this place well. This was probably the first pizza I ate as a child- and it was ALWAYS the best. We would get this nearly once a week it was that good. The crust was always perfectly done, not too crispy but not too floppy, and full of flavor. The red sauce was TO DIE FOR. Real tomato chunks added to a great texture. The cheese on top- was very well balanced and not overpowering. I’m lactose intolerant and have been my whole life, so I rarely ate the cheese, but when I did, it was amazing. I’ve gotten pasta from here too, I don’t remember what I had since it was probably 10 years ago at this point. But I remember it to be awesome. The garlic bread was super tasty, not too strong of garlic, but balanced with butter, parsley and garlic atop of what I assume was a French loaf of bread. I wish I could still go here, but I’m a 12 hour drive now. We visited Illinois about 4 years ago, and this was the first place we ate. 10/10...
