Gross' Burgers — Restaurant in Illinois

The food used to be good. This used to be a place to stop off at or make a special trip. I've been three times in the last year and it's gotten worse each time. This most recent time ruined it all for me.

The only new decorations I noticed was a new Gross military picture from 2024. Congratulations and thank you for continuing your proud lineage of service to the country.

The burger..... Tasteless. Did they even season the patty? No burger taste, the best part was the bun mayo and pickles. I was so underwhelmed.

The fries tasted like wonderfully salted cardboard. Seriously, the salt was pretty darn spot on. But the fries were cardboard. A good fry can be eaten without any sauce. There shouldn't be any cardboard aftertaste. These.... These needed saucing.

The shake wasn't bad but it was mostly whipped cream, and was waaaay too much money for the size.

Everything is more expensive than it used to be, but with the taste diminishing as much as it did it's not worth the increased price.

Id pay five guys that much for their food, and skip the shake.

This wasn't even remotely close to worth it for me.

Three items, two and a half strikes ....

Something has changed here. Quality has gone way down hill. I highly doubt it was any of the workers busting their humps that made the food taste subpar. They were super busy....it took 15-20 minutes to get my food.

I don't mind waiting for good food, but something on the level of a McDonald's burger shouldn't take that long to come out.

Fast/cheap/quality

I got slow, expensive, tasteless.

I will never come back here again. After coming here for what seems like more than 20 years.

There are a couple of newer looking burger joints around the area that i will go try instead when I'm back around here.

What a darn shame, gross burgers finally living up to their name of...

I've always LOVED Grossburgers from back when Mike first opened it and ran it all by himself basically.... So I'm talking about 20+ years of enjoying the food and service as well. I hate to give this review because I've got to be honest..... I went there with my friend last week and while we were waiting for the time to pick our order up at the drive thru we we're saying to each other how we couldn't wait to get our food because we both knew that no matter what we order this restaurant always was top of the line with their quality, freshness, and customer service and not many restaurants around this area could compare with Grossburgers. Sadly when we received our order we waited til we got home to eat, appx 8 miles away ( again no biggie because their food is always made to order and served hot of the griddle so it would still be great). However the first thing we both reached for was the famous garlic fries and after sticking a few in our mouth we BOTH immediately said "what the heck? Oh my God they've changed the FRIES!" They were 100% noticably different than the ones we had grown to know and love, and we're a thinner stringier type of cut, soggy and greasy! HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT from an establishment that neither one of us ever expected to lack in their quality. If Mike Gross sees this review just know that if it's not broke don't fix it! Please get the brand of fries that's been sold for 20+ years back to the menu! The expectations were so high that the DISSAPOINTMENT seemed tremendous. Sorry so long, just had to get it...

Gross' Burger was grossly misnomered. My food was so so so delicious. I make smash burgers at home and ... That felt like a home cooked meal elevated to another level. The freshness of the meat you can taste in every bite. My milkshake was so good I wish I purchased the larger size. It was over far to soon. The team of young people on staff were great. They were all positive, hard at work. Even when there was no customers to serve they busied themselves with cleaning and prep tasks. They were making sure the shop was ready for the rush that would come for dinner. I was in the restaurant 9/3. So please give the team that was working from 3:30-4:00pm my highest praise💫. They were not even distracted by their peers who were occupying a corner table for a very long time slowly eating fries. That impressed me greatly. Way to go! Good job. This group of young people will go far if they stay focus.
