Grove Inn Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Illinois

So this place is more than unassuming. The bartender said very clearly, "it's not like Michelin-star food." However, the place is local, and has a nice menu of small-to-medium-sized dishes. Appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and not much more. The beer is "American" lagers, and not very diverse. And yet this is a place that deserves a visit... for example, the hot ham and cheese sandwich was had cut on the premises from real ham... it was tasty and interesting. Been visiting the Grove for years its a nice local spot. It's definately not a yuppie/hipster bar but has a nice low key atmosphere. They have "bar" food and it has always been good to excellent in my opinion. They do serve lunch and breakfast however I have never stopped in for that but, in tge mornings they always seem busy. When the place is slammed it is slammed usually during special events. During the summer they have a sand volleyball league which seems to still be popular. Nice little place away from the busy city but close enough it's not out of the way. I had a cheeseburger with onion rings and it was delicious! The meat was fresh and well seasoned, the breading on the onion rings was smooth and crunchy, not super bready.
