If your not a local than that’s ok. I was passing through and when I drove by this little gem I turned my truck around and said “I have to try it” and I am SO glad I did.
Smiles from everyone like they had known you their entire lives. Great friendly staff. Quaint country atmosphere that made you realize real quick that you were glad you were here.
I was feel basic cafe food today so a double cheese burger with seasoned fries sounded perfect for me. The best waitress I’ve had in years brought be a cup of beef and bean soup that was phenomenal. I was perfectly content with that by itself until I remembered that I had ordered a burger when my server brought it out about 5 minutes after ordering it. The burger and fries were second to none. Great veggies and a grilled Keizer bun added to a great tasting burger showed that they knew how to cook and wanted to make sure the customer was happy. Loaded beside that was more seasoned fries than I could eat (and I know how to eat) made for the perfect little cafe experience.
The last part of my experience was the part where your at the register wondering what the total would be because I was so happy and miserably full from the awesome food and when the lady at the register told me $7 and some change I about fainted. NO WAY can you serve quality food at that quantity and only charge less than $8. Well apparently they can here.
If you can’t tell by now The Buttermilk Cafe is exactly what I needed after being gone from home nearly 3 weeks. Ive always wanted to open a cafe of my own and when I do you can bet it will incorporate a lot of the qualities of this great little establishment.
Thank you Buttermilk Cafe for making my day better and I can’t wait to...
Read moreThis is a great little, quaint Cafe that has great breakfast dishes reminiscent of dinners decades ago!
The waitresses are charming, attentive and are quick to get your orders in to your liking and your coffee cups topped off!
I wish I had known or stopped by this gem for the past few decades it's been open! Man have I missed out and settled for trashy truck stop plates, rude behavior and subpar meals...
If you want excellent common Iowa breakfast staples from corned beef hash with eggs and toast to healthy portions of pancakes, breakfast meat and a side, then definitely make it a destination stop to bring the family!
You should come by early, especially on the weekends if you're not in the mood to stand in line! Although this place gets super busy, the average customer spends 15-30...
Read morePoor service, sat with empty coffee cup at the table for over 10 minutes refilled by another waitress. Our waitress seemed to forget us. Ordered food at 10:23 and receive it at 11:08. Order was incorrect due to running out of American fries. How do you run out of potatoes!!!!! Replaced with hashbrowns, without informing me and asking if that was ok. Food was mediocre at best. My drink was not refilled and our waitress walked by table 7 times and never asked if I needed a refill. Yes, place was busy, but that is poor service. I recommend driving extra half mile west to Arianna's Cafe. Only reason i came here was they were closed due to family...
