Wapsipinicon Mill — Attraction in Independence

Historic 5 story mill with unique engineering. It has been transformed into a museum for one of the oldest communities in Iowa. Beautiful mill located in the heart of Independence Iowa. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and reduced fall/winter hours we weren't able to tour the inside, but what we could see was interesting. There's a walking trail that winds down the left side of the mill along the water to a park area and another walking trail that takes you along the main street that also wraps around to the opposite side of the mill. Website stated they were closed, but we heard they were open, so we stopped by. We stopped by on a Saturday before noon, and we're also able to visit the local Farmer Market. We were able to access the main and upper floor, we saw some cool historical items, and we learned a lot. Neat place...
