Declaration Tavern — Restaurant in Independence

There is a new owner as of a month ago and, while I didn’t have it before, I can tell you that things are great now!

5 stars aren’t enough! My cousin and I met up here tonight for the first time and we shared a medium taco pizza. This pizza is SO good! The crust is delicious and doughy in the best way and instead of taco meat, it is the best chorizo I’ve ever tasted. The pizza is baked with salsa, cheese, and chorizo, then topped with a lettuce mix and tomatoes and served with sour cream and more salsa. Next time I’m getting it with dirty ranch and probably an appetizer of meatballs because they also sounded delicious.

Not only was the food good, but we had great service and it was the perfect atmosphere. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and made us feel very comfortable…it didn’t feel like it was our first time there. There was music playing, but it wasn’t too loud so we could still hear each other talk. We didn’t feel rushed and it was a GREAT place to hang out. I loved the whole feel of the place and even got to warm my hands by the fireplace before going out into the cold!

I was in town for Velosano and was looking for a place to grab a bite and wasn’t looking for the regular franchise places when I stumbled upon this little place. The menu had the type of food I was craving and a small business owner. It’s tucked inside a little shopping plaza and when I walked in I knew I made the right choice. I found myself a seat and the owner quickly brought a menu and took my drink order, it had a small hometown type feel and there was a bar area as well as tables to choose from. I ended up buying the meatball appetizer a it was amazing!!! Probably the best meatball I have ever had! Try the garlic knots which I unfortunately did not order but I ordered a meat lovers pizza and it was equally delicious as the meatball ! Next time I’m in the area I’m coming...

I lived in the city, my whole life and Angie used to be here and they were really good and then they left somebody else took over and it wasn’t good but now we have new owners making pizza the way it used to be when I was a kid fantastic. The sausage is so spicy enough and the cheese pepperoni. They got the little curled ones are so good. Excellent a little barn side older a nice guy people are so friendly. And you can go there with a small family there’s it small side, but there’s enough room for six people the table and put tables together.
