They did a great job with accommodating our group. We did get there at the tail end of the lunch crowd on a Friday. The service was great and the food was too. We didn't feel rushed to leave since the lunch crowd was gone, so it was nice to visit with family and friends.

Nice restaurant, furniture, and atmosphere. The food was good, but not great. There was too much grease in the fajitas, which overpowered the taste of the vegetables. The guacamole, chips and salsa were good. The service was good.

Good service, but language can be a bit of a barrier to effective communication when ordering. Food was great and they have a broad menu of typical tex-mex dishes. Parking is convenient and plentiful.

Usually if I order from El Maguey in Boonville its from Take Out and I pick up from their drive thru window they have! Ordering from Take Out from El Maguey is a hit or miss type of situation and tonjght was a big Miss!! I ordered Steak Fajitas with an extra order of Flour Tortillas!! Most of the steak and veggie pieces were burnt and hard. I had to pick through it to get good pieces. It comes with Pico, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Refried Beans and Rice. (It also comes with Lettuce but I ordered mine W/O Lettuce due to an allergy!) They also give u a bag of Chips and Salsa! The Guacamole was a teaspoon worth of brown goop, The sour cream was SO watery Thank goodness I had some in the fridge! The Rice was hard, dry and cold and the beans were also Very dry and cold! The chips come in a brown paper bag that was SO greasy the bag was soaked with grease but yet the chips were hard as could be and tasted Very stale and absolutely no flavor except grease!! It honestly seemed like I got fajitas that had been sitting for awhile and maybe the last of what they had! Idk? But they were the worst ones Ive gotten! I absolutely LOVE fajitas! And I order them once a month and it's a treat for me! Especially for $22.00 I was very angry about the food quality I received tonight! It was terrible! And trying to get any kind of refund is useless! When I called I spoke with a guy who argued with me saying they gave me what I ordered which yes I got what I ordered but I couldn't get it through his head that it was WHAT I received that was the issue! So basically that was $22 wasted! And now the next time they could be amazing! Which is why I say it's a hit or miss! I won't be ordering them from the dinner menu again! If anything I will try again from the lunch menu which is...

I go with my family about every 4 to 6 weeks to dine at this restaurant. Lately, I have seen things I do not like. The past two times, there has been a group of ladies that meet up to play some kind of dice game after they eat. They are quiet and keep to themselves, yet they are treated horribly. I have seen them have to wave their hands, or holler out at the wait staff, just to get refills during their meal. I have seen the wait staff walk right past their tables and disregard these ladies, all while they are trying to get their attention. It is a sad thing to see, because my family and I are treated fine. My kids have asked me why those ladies are treated like that, and I don't know how to respond. It makes for a very uncomfortable dining out experience. This is not a cheap restaurant to eat in, average of $15 per person. We drop a pretty good chunk of change every time we go. I can only imagine how much those ladies drop, only to be treated so horribly. My hope going forward, is that the wait staff starts treating every customer with respect. Because I see the wait staff 'pick and choose' who gets treated well, I don't think I will be taking my family back. Shame on this restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants who would love to get my money, and they are...

Unfortunately, this isn’t the same Maguey I grew up loving. It’s tough to write this because I have so many great memories here—family dinners, birthdays, and special moments from my childhood. I’ve genuinely wanted to support the restaurant for nostalgia’s sake and have returned several times over the years hoping to recapture what made it special.

In 2022, I even brought my wife to share a piece of my past, but the experience was disappointing. We were met with comments like ā€œthis isn’t Taco Bell,ā€ which made us feel unwelcome. Since then, I’ve given it a few more chances, hoping it was just an off day, but the food, service, and overall energy just don’t feel the same.

What hurts most is seeing the place lose its heart. The owner, who used to greet guests warmly and make you feel like family, now seems distant and disheartened.

This review isn’t written out of spite—it’s written out of hope. I’d love to see Maguey regain its warmth, quality, and place in the community. Until then, I’ll hold on to the memories, and hope for a revival of a...
