Bar-B-Q Heaven — Restaurant in Indianapolis

The first time we were there this year, was on Memorial Day weekend 2022. Unfortunately the food was less than heavenly. We've both been to Texas, and Kansas City. This was far!! from either. The best way I can describe our experience there was as a poor reflection of the BBQ we've had at any family functions in the past. Was the BBQ bad? No. Was it great? Certainly not, adequate at best. I also got Macaroni and Cheese with our order. I've found in the past that if the food is decent (whether it's a burger place or otherwise) Macaroni and Cheese makes a pretty good condiment. The Macaroni and Cheese on Memorial Day 2022 was hands down the worst I've ever had. I gave my wife a sample and she agrees on this (confirmed to still be true on 9/5/2022). It was the blandest, mushiest, and most flavorless Macaroni and Cheese I've ever ate.

When my wife and I were there during the 4th of July weekend, we never got around to trying the food. This is because, a woman outside came to aggressively hit on our friend (asking if he could forget his wife when he said he was married, and saying my wife was "dumpy" and she would not want to have sex with my wife which was weird, no one was looking to do that with her from our group). It quicky became clear that there was a good chance that this woman was going to assault my wife, she followed us around outside and continued to escalate against my wife even when I told her to leave us (and pointedly my wife) alone. Horrible customer service. I was in on Labor Day and it took 45 minutes in line to get through the line. Once I got to the counter they were having issues with the credit card machine. They could not get the paper to print out. They ran my card but it did not print out. The lady at the counter said I had to wait for the manager to come in. I went to my bank site and saw that the charge had gone through. I showed her but she said I had to wait for the manager to come in. She said it would be 10 minutes but it was 45 minutes before he showed up. I asked several times for my money back or my food but she continued to say I had to wait for the manager. When he finally came in and fixed the machine, they finally gave me my food. It was in a sack for almost an hour. They did not refix it, they did not apologize, and they did not offer me anything for my inconvenience. I was there an hour and 40 minutes from 4:05 to 5:45pm. I want everybody to know how awful they treat customers. I had been a semi-regular customer going 6–10 a year. I am shocked they would treat a customer so badly. Other customers in line were making comments and saying they should have just given me my food. Horrible...

My second time trying then today. Ordered same thing both times. Turkey combo with Mac n cheese and greens. Both times i was disappointed in the lack of seasoning on the sides. It's like they don't even bother to season. The turkey ribs were better than the first time. They first time they were so dry i almost drove back across town. But decided not to. Today they were fresher and kinda moist. The corn bread muffins are pre made sitting in basket wrapped in plastic. Both times they were cold and kinda hard like they were days old sitting in the fridge. I threw it out the window. I got my mild sauce on the side. I think that Mild sauce is manwich sauce. I swear it tastes just like it but it's still good. The sauce on the side is pre cupped so it's room temperature. First visit i ate soon as i got home. It was cold. Today i sat right in my car outside the restaurant and ate. The sides were hot. The turkey ribs were not. Just warm. I am going to try bbq king next.
