Wow. Boy did the reviews lie about this place. Divine Bar B Cue is mediocre at best. I ordered the pork sandwich combo with a side of baked beans.
I received a tray with a cup of baked beans and a smaller tray with a bun and a plop of wet pulled pork. No coleslaw. I assembled my sandwich, bit into it, and was underwhelmed. The pork tasted like it was baked (not smoked) 2 weeks ago and then held in a pot of boiling saltwater until it was my time to eat it. The pork had no flavor, it was bitter, had no bark, and obviously had no signs of being "barbecued." The bbq sauce tasted like sweet baby rays that they added Tabasco to. Nothing special. The beans again tasted like they were straight out of a Bush's baked beans can. Nothing special. Nothing I ate today had a personal touch by the restaurant. Tasted like something I'd eat at a high school cafeteria.
For 12 dollars/sandwich, I expected more. I am not from Indiana, so I guess I have more exposure to barbecue than others that have reviewed this restaurant. This is nothing special, and if you're a southerner visiting up north, take your business elsewhere.
The service was decent. I will say you'll receive your food in about 30 seconds (probably because your pork has been held in a warming tray for the last 4 hours). The restaurant is dirty, the bathrooms are dirty, and the whole place has a very "hole in the wall" feel. This would be okay if the food made it worth it but it doesn't. Unfortunately I...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try this place for years. We finally stopped in to pick up an order this afternoon. The smoker outside was not going and there were no wonderful smells of fresh barbeque. We were tempted to get a slice of sweet potato pie added to our order, but the lady working let us in on a little secret that the individual pies are actually just the dollar pies from Walmart. That was the first red flag. We took our bag of bbq and headed home. I was starving and immediately went for some pulled pork. It was gray, stringy, and dry. It had very little flavor, though it did taste reheated. The pulled chicken was eerily similar, and the rib tips were overcooked and rubbery. The barbecue sauce tastes like Open Pit. But the meat was inedible without it. The cole slaw may have been store bought, but it was exceptionally dry and had no sauce or flavor. The baked beans were definitely from a can, and the cheddar bacon mashed potatoes were instant mashed potatoes. How disappointing! This is unfortunate because we absolutely love to support local business. This was not good barbecue. I have had better at a work pitch-in with Kroger sides. Reheated barbecue is never good. We gave most of it...
Read moreWe used this restaurant for our sons wedding after we had stopped by to try the food for the first time. We had met Bonnie during our visit and was blown away by the service. Yes this is a small establishment, but found out quickly the taste was huge. We tried all the food during our visit and it was all really great. Bonnie made us feel very welcoming and went above and beyond any expectations we could of had. At this point we decided this was the food we wanted and talked to Michelle the owner. She also made us feel very welcoming and was very professional and helpful. When it came time to get the food Bonnie had volunteered to help us out and , on her day off, bring the food to the wedding. At this point we were blown away and so thankful for her kindness. Our whole experience was amazing, the food was all amazing at the wedding. Everyone loved the food. We want to thank all of you involved in making our sons wedding successful...
