Edit: I left a pretty harsh review several months ago now, and while I feel it was deserved at the time, it has seemed like they've been able to slowly regain their footing, so I'm changing my review from a 1/5 to a 3/5 for now. I'm hoping to work my way back up to a 5/5, which it what I used to have posted, but I do feel like there's still a bit of work that needs to be done first. Overall, though, I'm happy to say that things have definitely gotten better lately. The past couple of times I've visited, it's been much better. I love Flashback's dearly and hope this trend of improvement continues upwards!
"It saddens me to see how quickly this place is going downhill after I've spent so many years of my life eating here and loving it every time. We ordered online and did take-out, and our order included two Chicken Supremes, which is what I get every time. In the past, they've almost always asked if I wanted it grilled or breaded, and if they didn't, it came breaded by default. Not only were we given two grilled instead of breaded, but they also straight-up forgot the top half of the bun on BOTH sandwiches. That's something I would expect from a poorly-run fast food place, not a locally-owned restaurant with food as expensive as Flashback's is.
A family member of mine also pointed out that, for some reason, they charge you different prices for the same side depending on what you order as your entree. You're required to pick a side when ordering online, and for some reason, our sides (w/ the Chicken Supreme) were $3.99, but the exact same sides were only $1.99 when paired with a Cheeseburger instead. The sides were identical, even including the portion size. In my eyes, there is no reason for this to be the case. It feels like a scummy, under-the-radar attempt to make some items seem cheaper than they really are, and it's pathetic and unacceptable.
I hate that I feel like I'm put in a place where I'm not allowed to love Flashback's anymore, because I simply cannot justify it at this point. They've gone from great, to struggling, to straight-up unacceptable, ESPECIALLY with the prices they charge. I'm aware that the global pandemic had a huge negative impact on the restaurant, and my family and I were very understanding as they were seriously struggling when they reopened after all that, but the fact that it seems like it hasn't gotten much better since then is kind of ridiculous.
I've recommended Flashbacks many times to friends and family in the past, and unfortunately, I will not be doing that anymore for the foreseeable future...but I hope that they will be able to get their act together soon so that can start visiting again and change my review score. Until then, I definitely won't be eating there anymore, at least not...
Read moreOur family was turned away due to a party reserving a large area...no big deal we understand. We go to leave and are told by another person the party doesn't start for another hour so we can stay and dine. Excellent! The same waitress who turned us away waited in our table. I give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she didn't know the party started later or didn't realize what time it was.
We order our food. I choose the fish and chips which is supposed to be all cod but my plate comes and it's cod and catfish. She says nothing just places it in front of me, serves my family and walks away. When she comes back I ask her about my plate, she has no idea and retreats to the kitchen. Apparently the cook has run out of cod and replaced it with catfish. Not the waitresses fault but she should have realized the food was clearly not what I ordered.
I reorder and the food was delicious.
When refilling our drinks she takes 2 cups, 1 with sweet tea and 1 with Coke and brings back 2 sweet teas and promptly leaves. When she finally circles back around I point out her mistake and ask for a Coke. She apologizes and fixes it.
She then brings the check with the original fish and chips still on there. I again have to wait for her return to get the correct check. Our check totaled $43, I left her a tip of $3 due to her poor service.
We are walking out the door and she states very loudly "Wow, thanks for that" very sarcastically. Well I can't leave it at that so I tell her she is lucky she even got that!
Again the food was delicious and reasonably priced but because of the poor service and the mishap in the kitchen we will not...
Read moreNot sure why Value is not an option to rate. Lunch for $38 for food/water only at a dive bar has gotten out of control. Only reason this is not a 1 star is due to the wait staff. As I said value, I would pay $38 for lunch, but then I expect $38 in value. Save your money or go to different place if you want value, such as a $13 BRU burger versus a $15 Flashbacks. I have come to this bar for a long time, my favorite by far has been the Diablo Chicken sandwich, breaded or grilled. Tolerated the price increases, get it but this most recent was rough. The diablo is not on the menu anymore, but she said I could still order it, which was great. Well then south from there, the sandwich came out like a tenderloin, beat to smithereens so bad it looked like a freesbie and since there wasn't any thickness to the meat fried like one too. No clue why they changed the way its prepared. Then the other person I was with ordered a burger for $15, which tasted like a $5 burger. Would guess its a frozen patty from Restaurant Depot or GFS. Back to value, used to get a decent amount of fries, it like they are on...
