The Good Spot — Restaurant in Indianapolis

I visited this restaurant this afternoon, before 3pm. I was immediately greeted when I walked in the door and was invited to sit wherever I liked. I chose to sit at the bar. I don’t recall the young lady’s name, but she was behind the bar and had red hair. She was very, polite, knowledgeable and engaging. It was a very clean environment…I dined in. Shortly after I placed my order, another customer came in. She’s apparently a regular because as soon as she came in and greeted the bartender, the bartender had her drink ready for her. The customer placed her order and the server/bartender knew how she liked that particular meal served. Another cheerful customer came in and the two customers knew each other very well and began chat’n it up about current events. That tells me it’s good vibes there and a favorite place to dine. I had cauliflower bites, catfish and sweet potato fries. It didn’t take long to receive my food and it was piping hot when it arrived. It was all cooked just right and not only looked amazing, but tasted just as good as it looked. I would definitely recommend The Good Spot to any visitors coming into the city or the locals looking for good food in a great atmosphere. We were looking for a good burger place and saw this had good ratings. It looks a bit like a dive from the outside, which made me more interested. Looks very nice and clean inside. They have some board games and such you can use. Has some TVs playing sports, albeit not very large. The woman serving was super nice and provided great service. Their draft beer selection has some good local beers, which I appreciate. The price was decent if not good. I got a double bacon burger with fries. I could have chosen another side. There weren't a lot of fries, but they were good. The burger was very large and well seasoned. The patties were pretty mediocre though, unfortunately. (Edit: Was overcooked and dry. Would be better if cooked with much more heat and quicker to get a sear on the outside and juicy on the inside) If you are nearby, it would be a good place to get a brew, play a game, and get something to munch on. My first and last time coming here. I ordered the catfish po’boy. On the menu it says that it comes with savory creole sauce I asked for no sauce. When I get my order it has some kind of sauce on it. When I bring it to the bar tenders attention she says that’s yum yum sauce I tell her on your menu it does not say it comes with yum yum sauce. I would have told you I didn’t want that sauce either. She looks at the menu notice it does not say it comes with that sauce and immediately caught an attitude. I asked to taste just the sauce to help her out to not have to make my food over and it was nasty to me. I tell her I just want my sandwich without sauce just how I ordered. She got even more upset and went into the kitchen area. I got her attention and cancelled my order. On my way out the door she yells across the room you are no longer welcome here. When you first walk in the door it smell like Raid, they mess up my order, and start being rude to me because you all messed up. Why would I ever come back or even recommend anyone...
