Last night I decided to swing by Sonics last minute. While I was pulling up I noticed there was currently only one single car in the drive through and none in the parking lot, figured to myself "awesome it's only 11:38 and there's only 1 car in front of me", because someone with years upon years in the food and beverage industry I know how much of a pain it can be to have someone rush in last minute and push back your entire staffs closing time just becsuse of one last minute customer, who usually tends to be difficult. Once I finally got into the drive through the same car was still sitting at the order intercom and proceccedd to sit there looking impatiently, it took an entire 6 minutes for that single car in front of me to be greeted and to start placing their order.
After they finished I was greeted quickly and asked for my order I started to order and was meet with complete silence. Id assume the order taker was helping another guest at the window, which is expected but have the courtesy to inform the guest you just asked to order to wait just one momement. After attempting to see if the order taker was free and wasnt greeted again for another 5 minutes. I ordered a Coney Dog, think number 7 with a rainbow slushy.. not knowing the name I asked for a slushy with nerds but in the end was given a slushy with pop rocks, a candy slushy.
Once I pulled forward a very polite employee came out, think it was the order taker advised me that she was just told and didn't know that Sonics doesn't carry hot dogs after 11:30. Assuming just a manager told her to say that due to poor management communication skills , a simple "Sorry we just ran out and are close to closing" would have been a far better approach. Unless Sonics really doesn't carry them after 11:30 , which is a bummer because I work late nights and live across the street off 42nd. I arrived at 11:38 and didn't physiccally have my hands on my order until 12:02am (which my receipt also shows), it took 22 minutes for my order to be taken and given when there was only 1 car in front of me that only order a number 4.
From the handful of past visit I've had over the last week, going inside seems to always be better then your drive through experience, staff handinling the floor inside seem to be far more gathered and have better communications skills, which leads to me getting in and out fairly quickly while on my way to work. The drive through on the other hand... the staff is friendly but it seems management doesn't know who's its own employees and is putting the wrong staff in the wrong places, you have to put your aces in there places. Drive through each visit has been very long, which I don't mind because it's busy and a new store, but extremely frustrating when ordering because lack of either multitasking from the order taker which leads to then getting overwhelmed and poor communicational skills.
Overall this review isn't for uppity yelpers nor the employees but rather the management. Know what positions your employees are best at. I love Sonics and I'm sure I'll be wasting far more money and near visits. So please, do a better job. Prior to this store like once a month my friends and I were driving out to the Sonics in cat city, but this store is going to ruin the experience for a...
Read moreWe were so excited about this place coming to the desert and it was such a disappointment. The indoor area was empty (even of staff) the service was terrible; careless, no attention to detail or consideration for necessary condiments/utensils so the food was cold to the point it seemed old by the time we got to eat it. Clearly it was old long before it reached our tray, which raised the question, why did we have to wait an eternity to receive "fast food". They repeatedly forgot we were there.
Much worse than paying $30 for a group of 3 for old food or having to enter their kitchen three times for service, there was undeniably super long hair in the burger my husband ordered. When brought to the attention of the staff, they didn't seem to care. I would have happily taken a refund to never return but they would only offer a replacement which they "forgot about" and by this point I just wanted to leave but just to make a point my husband went into the kitchen for the last time to ask if he'd ever get his food only to realize NO ONE there was wearing hair nets, hats or anything.
Finally they replaced the burger that had the hair of Rapunzel in it with what seemed to have been prepared in retaliation; slathered with three times more mayo than you'd find buttercream on a frosted cake I felt like surely it had been spit in or far worse. As soon as we looked at it we just tossed it and chalked it up to an experience we'll never return for.
I would be lying if I said they didn't offer brilliant cold drink options but we will stick to just getting ideas from those options and making them at home. It seems that because it's a drive in place the staff doesn't expect to get customers that walk in so they're bothered by them. We felt unwelcome and as if we were bothering the cashier even while...
Read moreMay 4th, 2020 Once again this Sonic is a disappointing stop for a quick drink. I understand taking longer to get my order because it is drive-thru and stall pickup. The long line is fine with me as well during these hot night that a nice cold drink will hit the spot once I get it. What really feels like a disappointment is the inability to order from the app. I am a real cheap spender at heart and wanted my 50% off the slushies from ordering ahead. I told the cashier that it wasn't working and was told it's doesn't matter. Full price is fine when the discount is not offered at every other store in the vicinity. I don't know what the problem is, but this store is always slow with most orderers taking a while to fulfill.
2 years ago this was placed New place so I understand the excitement and long lines. What seems to be unexcusable is waiting over 20 min just trying to place an order at the drive-thru window. No one to tell me they will just be with me, just silence and waiting. I got tired of waiting and decided to just ask the people working at the window if they were taking orders or if the speakers were broken. She apologized for the wait and we got out drinks free for the excessive wait, hence the 2 stars. Will try again in the future and hopefully this new store has the...
