I really really really want to give Iola Corner Bar five stars, but I just can't. The atmosphere is perfect, the waitstaff is SUPER friendly when they get around to waiting on you, and the food is really damn good.
The problem is that it seems like the staff is very disorganized, and incredibly inefficient. This is our second visit, and hoping that the first was an anomaly for being super slow, it wasn't. The second visit was even slower, to the point in which we felt ignored...15 minutes for a drink order to be taken, another 15 minutes waiting and specifically having to ask to place a food order. One hour later, we still did not have food and unfortunately I can't blame it on how busy it was.
I would say give it a try, they seem like great people, but plan to spend all night waiting for a fish fry.
Before leaving, the bartender did offer to give us a free beer due to the long wait, but we respectfully declined, but he was gracious enough to give us each a drink token for our next visit.
I would love to try the rest of their food here, but not certain when I will come back again due to the speed of...
Read moreThe worst wrap ever, not completely wrapped. Bottom is done to give the appearance its wrapped barely any chicken its a joke. What is going on with the mariana sauce? My first time trying it, service was slow and they forgot to put the order in.. Thought giving this place another chance turned into the worst idea. Better off going to the bars in Waupaca. Same tacos, same mozzarella sticks, better chicken wraps same price or some better. A child came out with the bag. It took a hour for them to make it. They offered 45 minutes and then still took a hour by the time I left. Working at bars previously, a hour is a joke. Restaurants need a hour. The longest thing to make is the wrap. Deep freezer for the rest. Not hard yet needed that long. Was hoping this place was decent but can't deal with the extremely slow service. Maybe only after a few drinks no one cares or can notice how long it takes to get there food. No even POS machine to make a recipe. Handwritten and no warning...
Read moreLiving temporarily in the area for work and visited JD's on 2 occasions...first I would rate OK for food and good for service. Decided to give another try for Friday Night Fish Fry...fish was really good...server was not. I ate at the bar and the bartender, believe I overheard named Kitty was quite rude...kinda threw down my drink, received my food promptly from another employee. Bartender brought me napkins and condiments...nevermind there wasn't any tartar sauce or salt or pepper...had to borrow from the couple eating next to me...they were friendly. She never came back to ask how the food was or if I needed anything. Had to inform her when I wanted another drink and when I was ready for the bill
Bartender seemed friendly to other patrons which made me deduce my poor service due to the fact I wasn't a "regular". There are a couple other places in town I would try instead, if you are...
