Iola Mills — Restaurant in Iola

Perfect lunch-sized portions of really fresh-tasting food. Went with my parents and kids ( kids ages 7, 10, 12) around 1pm on a Monday in July. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and salads, and everyone loved their food. We sat upstairs, where the view and the breeze were perfect. Our waitress was sweet and quick, especially since the kitchen was downstairs. Of course, we had to have dessert! Kids got gelato and I had a cappuccino. I came with some friends. We appreciated the building's history, but were left underwhelmed by the paninis. They were small, under-grilled and not really pressed. Three service was slow and somewhere in the shuffle, 2 of the orders came out quickly and 2 orders were more than 20 minutes behind. An apology was issued for the delay and confusion.

Don't get the non-dairy limon gelato. It was only ok and vaguely tasted of chemical lemon flavoring. Do try the others, which were delicious according to my friends.

The Millstone is a wonderful relaxing place to stop for a sandwich or gelato in Iola. The food is fresh and delicious. We had a cup their White chili, very good & sandwiches which came with a side. for sides we had the potato salad - great too. The old mill is full of history. you can eat in or outside.
