Corner Deli Cafe Island Heights — Restaurant in Island Heights

Very upsetting experience from an exceptionally rude and 😲arrogant owner named Tommy who served our table. Asked if we wanted coffee then while sitting in the dinning room I stood up and lowered the speed of the ceiling fan (over our head) from high to low as my handicap wife was chilly. He charged the table telling us not to touch his fan as only he could adjust. We explained why I lowered it and apologized. He then starred down my wife with the nastiest look. My wife then asked, you’re not really angry are you, and he continued to stare down my wife with a nasty look and didn’t have the respect to answer her. I was so angry however for my wife’s sake I held my tongue and told him we were leaving. He the yelled “GOOD” and turned away and left. Other people looked at what happened and were in shock. The other tables were very upset for us. My advise to all that may consider eating there is, DONT SUPPORT NASTY BUSINESS OWNERS LIKE THIS AS YOU MAY BE HIS NEXT VICTIM. AVOID THIS PLACE...

Was down the shore for a job on a hot August day and saw their ice cream sign. I felt I could do with a milkshake so I stopped in for one. Discovered that they had a small, proper seven table seating area and decided to have lunch as well. The fried flounder sandwich caught my eye and I placed my order. That was almost 30 minutes ago and I’m still waiting. This was surprising to me as the place wasn’t that busy, only about half of the tables occupied.

The food eventually came and the size and quality of the sandwich was about average but the accompanying potato salad was tiny to the point of being ridiculous. The overall taste was okay, nothing extraordinary though-about what you’d expect from a corner Deli.

Don’t expect lightning fast service. What I thought would be a quick 30 to 40 minute lunch ended up being...

This is a hidden gem tucked away in Island Heights. It looks very unassuming until you walk in. It is a family run business turning out everything from porkroll egg and cheese to Flounder stuffed with crabmeat. The food is tight on point, and the owners are absolutely great.
